The testimony Jeff Jarvis would give at the Senate hearing on the newspaper industry

Jeff Jarvis has posted the testimony he would like to give at John Kerry's Senate hearings on the failing newspaper industry. Click here to see it.

My testimony would be much shorter: "No more bailouts!"

The Internet isn't harming journalism. It's harming newspapers. The same as CDs harmed albums, DVDs harmed video cassette or the automobile harmed the horse and buggy.

Let me guess, raise taxes and eliminate taxe breaks for Americans and small businesses, vote democrat, and remember we’re the government watch dogs.

Now, give us tax breaks, credits, low interest loans and free money so we can continue to write hate America drivel.

AWWW EVEN CNBC PILES ON THE OLD GREY WHORE (TOO MUCH LIGHT PINCHY?)

NYTimes Even Worse Than Expected: Can Congress Help? CNBC

The headline is grim at the New York Times Company: quarterly results were worse than expected, far worse than the same quarter last year, and the company says it won't get any better in this current quarter.

The Times Co. which also owns the Boston Globe as well as a bunch of other newspapers around the U.S. posted a $61 million loss (excluding one time items) on a 19 percent decline in revenue.

It's taking a toll on the stock, which was off as much as 18 percent in Tuesday's trading, and down over seventy five percent for the year.

The big story is advertising, which declined 27 percent across the company. Even online ads, which generated so much growth between 2005 and 2007 declined, and classified ads, once newspapers bread and butter were down by almost half.

On No! Howard spewed the ‘F’ word on Jarvis once already. I will check with Howie’s blog and see if he has expanded his vocabulary, or if Jeff gets a good new vulgar blast word.

As the Democrats tax small businesses into oblivion, newspapers wonder why they no longer buy ads. This is not brain surgery, but above what a Socialist can actually grasp. I think the MSM is simply reaping the problems that come with “Change,” that really meant wealth distribution. Journalists have been redistributed into being homeless. Hey, everyone being equally poor is just a few more bailouts away.
