This blog is mainly about the spectacular train wreck at The Sacramento Bee and its parent company, the McClatchy Company. But I also post about current events, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, politics, anything else that grabs my attention. Take a look around this blog, hope you enjoy it.

SACBEE took another ad hit yesterday. Gottschalks Department Stores, (some 60 +- stores), headquartered in Fresno, went chapter 11 in January. Yesterday they were sold to a liquidator and poof.... they will be gone. More ad revenue and ad inserts lost. But they still have inserts from Big Lots stores and some paint by numbers kids stores. Whooee....we be gonna pull it out yet!!
Any hint of an independent media is completely gone. The Washington state politicians are buying the newspapers with a tax break. You can forget any scrap of credibility these people ever had.

At at time when there are severe cuts to public education and safety the newspapers are getting a tax break.
"USA Today President and Publisher Craig Moon announced his sudden retirementht Tuesday, leaving the country's largest newspaper with its top two jobs unfilled.." === The USA today, would be a better place without this biased garbage disguised as a newspaper. The Moonbeam probably has ‘his share’ out already.
I'm a hard-core smoker. I'd smoke in my sleep if someone one hold my cigarette.
But when I first heard of this new tax and where the expected money is supposedly going, my first thought was, "Hey, at least I'm smoking for a good cause!" Maybe the cigarette companies and fellow smokers can use the children's health care as a recruiting tool to get more smokers. The more we smoke, the more children will get health care.
On the flip side, what if even 3/4ths of all the smokers decided to quit. How will the children's health care initiative be funded? Will all the alcoholics be targeted next?
Children's health care is an issue that effects all Americans, and everyone should contribute to the cause.
Cost of smoking? Barry probably buys his smokes at NO taxes. We pay for his vice no doubt.
Why don't whackjobs get after him? There are dozen of photos of him smoking, not a joint of course, that was only in his wild college days. I think this is another Clinton cigar cover-up type thing. At least Bill smoked the Monica Special, you do have to give him credit for originality.
