Now that the election is over, McClatchy suddenly notices Biden's gaffes

Steven Thomma, political reporter at McClatchy's DC bureau, has suddenly noticed Joe Biden is a gaffe machine.

Where was Thomma before the election?

In a piece yesterday, Thomma covers Biden's latest gaffe (telling Americans they could avoid Swine Flu by staying away from commercial airliners and subways).

Thomma lists some Golden Oldie Biden gaffes: Biden saying that Barack Obama was "the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean;" saying FDR went on television when the stock market crashed -- even though Hoover was president and television hadn't been invented; and, the time a video camera caught Biden saying, "You cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I'm not joking."

Oddly, Biden gaffes weren't interesting or newsworthy to McClatchy before the election.

During last fall's campaign , when the gaffes could have damaged the media's Preferred Ticket, McClatchy didn't think the gaffes should be an issue. In fact, McClatchy slammed the McCain campaign in October for putting together a compilation video of Biden gaffes before the VP debate -- McClatchy said the GOP “was trying to embarrass” Biden. (If you are interested, I posted the GOP's Biden gaffe video here.)

I'm guessing McClatchy thought any focus on Biden's gaffes might detract from the important task of electing Obama/Biden. Which explains why McClatchy and other media spent weeks rummaging through dumpsters in Wasilla but never took a serious look at the hair-plugged gasbag from Delaware.

Anyway, I'm taking this opportunity to show this classic video of Joe Biden, campaigning in Missouri, telling a man in a wheelchair to stand up.

The infamous quote: “Stand up, Chuck, let ‘em see ya… oh, God love ya, what am I talking about…”

Just imagine the reaction from McClatchy and the Anchorage Daily News if Sarah Palin had told somebody in a wheelchair to stand up.

STAND UP lINDA wILLIAMS

Since most other outlets reported on biden, as well as gibbs being the laughing stock trying to defend him, MNI coming late and piling on, well after its DNC masters have made it ok, makes MNI look not as biased.

But the bottom line is, only an idiot thinks MNI isn’t a biased sewer of a dying paper, and therefore like biden, MNI’s coverage is another MNI hack non-event.

“What do you mean FOX didn’t broadcast my Ogasum? I will make them pay for that. Let’s see, I will call them the FIX news, and I will never let them be worked into the phony press conferences. Program TOTUS for a snide remark about their crass personnel every time I speechify, which is every day. Man, I love the sound of my voice. Get me a smoke, Shelle, you know from which special box I mean.

"Look, John's last-minute economic plan does nothing to tackle the number-one job facing the middle class, and it happens to be, as Barack says, a three-letter word: jobs. J-O-B-S, jobs." --Joe Biden

His airline and subway lines weren't off the mark at all. He was right. Anybody who has flown extensively has experience with being sick more than others. They might not have been popular with the airline industry or subway revenue-takers in New York, but at least he was speaking the truth. It just wasn't PC to say that stuff.

Biden Fumbles Military Terms
Speaking at the Democratic National Convention about Sen. Barack Obama’s foreign policy judgment, Biden stated that Obama has advocated for two additional battalions in Afghanistan.
In fact, Obama called for two extra brigades – a small verbal slip, but a significant numerical one. A brigade is composed of a varying number of battalions. A slip I would expect from two drunks talking in a bar, but not from the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Waxing indignant about President Bush's response to the financial crisis, he also told Couric that when the stock market crashed in 1929, "FDR got on television" and explained to the American people what happened. In fact, Herbert Hoover was president and radio was the medium of the era.

Biden on Barry: "I Like That Boy,
I mean, you got [the first] mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy."

My stomach muscles are wobbly from laughing. I don't think I could, as biden said, "Come on, stand up Chuck"

-Big Joe & Plagiarism-
"During his time as a law student at Syracuse, Biden had plagiarized a law review article. Though the then-dean of the law school, as well as Biden's former professor, downplayed the incident, they did find that Biden drew "chunks of heavy legal prose directly from" the article in question. Biden was permitted to retake the course after receiving a grade of F, which was subsequently dropped from his record.

Biden also released his undergraduate grades, which were unexceptional. When questioned by a New Hampshire resident about his grades in law school, Biden had lied and answered that he graduated in the "top half" of his class when he actually graduated 76th from 85.

He further lied when he stated that he had attended law school on a full scholarship, and had received three degrees in college.[69] In fact, he had earned a single B.A. with a double major in history and political science, and had received a half scholarship to law school based on financial need not academics.

When you look at Joe Biden, two things come right to mind. Term limits, and where not to get your hair plugging done.

Biden is a real life buffoon, that he is a heartbeat away from being president should freeze our blood. If the whackjob press can’t see what they have done in their mindless anything for Democrats agenda, it really is too late to save journalism. It is corrupt beyond repair. By the time the two clowns are done with their three ring circus, disgust will render Jimmah Carter the second worst president. The teleprompter will be the worst.

I am not sure Air Obama left Europe with the impression our liberal media wanted us to believe. In the UK, they called him ‘The TelePrompTer Man,’ and “Barack Obama: President Pantywaist - new surrender monkey on the block.” “Surrender Monkey,” now that is funny, but it would be racist if we said it no doubt.

BIDEN SPANKED BY MAC DADDY, BOOTED OUT OF COUNTRY

Biden kicked out of country after flu remarks?

Things have gotten so bad for the vice president following his disastrous Today Show appearance that he’s been exiled?

No. It’s just coincidental that the day after he strayed way off message on how to deal with the flu virus that his office announced he’s going on an overseas trip.

The veep is headed for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Kosovo beginning on May 18.

“During the visit, the Vice President will meet with the political leadership in all three countries, as well as U.S. officials and military personnel stationed in the region,” the vice president’s office announced.

Considering that Harvard Dental School closed up after a single student was diagnosed with the Mexi-flu, perhaps they are trying to now keep a lid on public panic.

So even though biden made sense, and pigs (swine) truly did fly, they ship him over seas.

But whats’ scary is after clinton’s guy Levy offed himself yesterday, I’m suddenly thinking of Ron Brown?

And what about that hack gibbs priceless statement, followed by an eruption of laughter.

“I understand what he said, and I’m telling you what he meant to say,”

H1N1 (”swine flu”) is , contracted in an airborne droplet manner as well as hand-to-mouth/eyes/nose manner.

Vice President Biden was right. To avoid contagion, to reduce the incidence of exposure to this rather nasty virus, stay away from crowds and closely enclosed spaces. So avoiding bus, train and airline travel is correct - not a “gaffe.”

We are all too anxious to be politically correct and avoid affecting the various forms of the travel industry.

What the airline industry needs to do is acknowledge that the spread of this flu around the world is a result of infected travelers boarding airplanes and traveling around the world.

It may be devistating to the airlines to have to give refunds and cancel flights but that's the only way you are going to be able to keep this disease from spreading to countries that are not currently affected.
