Two months after denouncing a troubled financial company for doling out hefty management bonuses, a bankrupt news media company is doing the same thing.
"Money for nothing?" blared a Chicago Tribune editorial in mid-March, responding to news that American International Group Inc. planned to give $450 million in bonuses to its top executives during a very public federal bailout.
But this week, the Tribune Co. - which owns the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, the Baltimore Sun, the Hartford Courant and other dailies, along with 23 TV stations - received permission from a Delaware bankruptcy judge to pay out $13.3 million in bonuses to some 700 local and corporate managers.
The payouts come as $2.7 million in severance pay to 68 employees who lost their jobs last year remains frozen.
All of their reporting ever since then has been essentially adversarial towards non-leftists, and the great dream of each and every one of them has been to find some “scandal” that they can exploit to bring down conservative members of the government.
So journalism has become extremely personal, extremely vindictive, extremely targeted - and virtually always against non-leftwing politicians who are supported by the majority of Americans and reflect and protect American interests.
Since most people already knew the journalistic playbook and knew exactly what they were going to read and knew that it was not news but a print or TV vendetta, it’s not surprising the people stopped wanting to pay for the experience.
The extraordinary thing about organized homosexuals is how they demonstrate the most vile elements of effeminate spitefulness in their actions, frequently being more repulsively spiteful than the most disgustingly spiteful women.
Yes, the articles are chosen to favor a more conservative perspective, but the goal is to drown the discussion on this blog in spam. Secondly, those that post the spam will on occasion then report the victimized blog for copyright infringement. It's straight out of the leftist playbook.
Interestingly, this is a spin off of Communist tactics when they took over the labor unions. They went to the meetings and prattled on until everyone had left but their folks and then they would vote.
L.A. Times: Costly, Overly Long Trial of Poor, Entrapped, Harmless Dupes Somehow Results in Several Convictions
Here are the first three paragraphs of an L.A. Times article on recent terrorism convictions obtained by the federal government:
After back to back mistrials, five men from one of Miami’s poorest neighborhoods were convicted Tuesday of trying to join with Al Qaeda in plots to topple the Sears Tower in Chicago and bomb government buildings in South Florida.
Though a sixth man was acquitted, federal prosecutors claimed victory in a case that had dragged on for years and cost millions of taxpayer dollars.
Defense lawyers said their clients were harmless dupes entrapped by government informants. They vowed to appeal.

That is a weak argument. You cannot get in trouble with the plagiarism/copyright police if someone copies your content and pastes it as a "comment".

The NY Times took FreeRepublic.com, a news aggregate, to court because ‘posters’ were coping their full articles. The Times did not win a monetary amount, but they did force FR to post only a preview of the article and a link. That is the standard rule for most newspapers. They may not enforce the rules on small blogs, but as paid content is being discussed, stricter rules are more than likely in the future. They have a standard letter ready, as McC Watch received a notice from the Miami Herald about a copyrighted photo. It is perhaps prudent to post the title, credit the source, add an excerpt, and the link back to the newspaper. As of yet, that is well accepted, and why ask for problems?
The leftie paid shills on this blog remind me of the drones that stand out in front of businesses having their going out of business sale holding up big signs and looking bored out of their minds.
It's called logic and I'm aware from your posts and your ideology that this is an unfamiliar concept.

This represents an over 6 million share decline over the previous 2 week period, the largest drop in short interest on record for McClatchy.
So much for MNI's recent "rally" having anything to do with buying.
