The interesting part here for our liberal friends is that Tony is a liberal. The Star is almost universally despised by anyone in Kansas City that's honest, left, or right.

Since the days of Art Brisbane it has been the pre-eminent handmaiden to corruption in Kansas City.

Oh, come on, John. Nobody except the far fringe right and far-right Republican ideologues like yourself "despise" the paper. Find something to talk about that we haven't heard over and over. Get over your 10-year-old disappointment because you found that you were subject to editing for libel, good taste, stereotyping, and unsupported conclusions based on ideology.

I am an Independent voter, and I 'despise' the Star. So does most everyone I know. You are wrong about only the right despising the newspaper, it is useless. Thinking all Dems are brain-dead is also a mistake, more taxpayers are having voters remorse by the day.

Taking a shot at John is so childish, I was hoping we were past these attacks.

I consider myself a political moderate and I despise the newspaper as well for a myriad of reasons.

Oh, and I thought only right-wingers stereotype. My mistake.

The KC Star surely must know by now, no matter how hard you try, “You cannot polish a turd.”

The Scar kept one trick ponies for columnists far too long. Staff diversity trumped integrity and good taste. Any newspaper that would publish anything by Rhonda Lokeman is beyond repair. The other editorials are so predictable, there is no reason to read them. A stable of Democrat donkeys has become nothing more that a stable of asses.

Tony is a liberal, he sometimes touches the third rail, but mostly he is what I call a shock jock. Funny for awhile, but nothing for the long haul.

The fringe left hates the Star as much as the fringe right does. That indicates to me that its news coverage overall is fair and balanced, and most people I talk to agree. In fact, the Star seemed to try too hard to avoid pointing out obvious GOP lies and distortions in the last election campaign. And although its staff-written editorials lean to the left, McClanahan certainly isn't a leftist, and the syndicated editorial columnists are balanced pretty evenly between left and right.

7:23 You need to get out of the newsroom once in awhile. Most of the people you talk to think The Star is fair and balanced? Where are these people? I talk to people of all political persuasions and people who could care less about politics. I have never heard anyone say they like The Star. "Fair and balanced." Please.

If you're not in the newsroom, when is your trial?

***7:23 You need to get out of the newsroom once in awhile.***

My only connection to the Star is as a longtime reader. Your ideological blindness, or perhaps political mischief making, is pretty obvious to everyone.

Your life in a vacuum has not been kind to you.

The KC Red Star endorsed the Obamababoon back in October, so yeah it's Moonbat Central.

8:51 (John), you're not fooling anyone by posting anonymously.

John Altevogt said...

The only one who was fooled was you. 8:51 is not me. Starting the day off stupid must really be a drag.

8:51 -- how about commenting on McClatchy or the newspaper business, instead of obsessing about John.

John Altevogt said...

That would be 7:15, 8:51 is my look a like. Ah, an entourage obsessed with my every word, and even some I haven't written. Next they'll be searching the net for my postings under a pseudonym. What could be better? It will become a cottage industry amongst those with no lives of their own. Yet another gift from me to those suffering from the pangs of totalitarian liberalism.

And the moon is made of green cheese...

And Michael Moore is Brad Pitt's identical twin...

And Al Gore invented the internet...

And Barack Obama is a fiscal conservative...

The Star, like most metropolitan newspapers, has tried for a long time to be all things to all people. People on the right-wing remember all the evidence that to them points to a liberal rag; left-wingers recall all the evidence that to them points to a rag in the pocket of the city's powers-that-be: And, no, we're not talking about Funkhouser; we're talking about the Halls, Kempers, etc. People at the Star look at the antipathy that comes from each side of the political spectrum and conclude that they are fair and balanced. What they really are is timid and beholden to special interests. The evidence is more in what is left out of the paper than what appears in it.

The Star is not left or right. It plays no favors with politics. What it is, is incompetent. Management there has no clue about what to do anymore and what is left in terms of talent on the staff hates the place. It shows. The thing has become a shopper.
