McClatchy to launch an aggregator page on post-election developments in Iran

So says John Walcott in a report published today in Editor & Publisher.

...McClatchy is planning to launch a rare online aggregation of different reporting outlets, likely later today. "It is fairly unusual, but we can give our readers a more complete picture," Walcott said. "I wouldn't ordinarily feel the need to do that. But what is going on within our site and hearing [in Tehran] can be completely different from what is happening a mile or a half mile away."

Walcott did not have specifics on what would be aggregated, but said, "We are going to exercise the same editorial judgment we do with everything."

"The same editorial judgment we do with everything"??

Uh, that's not a good sign -- Walcott is the hard-left DC bureau chief who won a award named after I.F. Stone, the left-wing journalist who was a Soviet agent. Walcott spent the fall of 2008 overseeing McClatchy's over-the-top and biased coverage against Sarah Palin. (And don't get me started on Walcott's 2007 prediction that the US would not win the Iraq War.)

Also, John Walcott and the DC bureau suffer from a classic case of "Gate Keeper Mentality". It will be a stretch for the DC bureau folks to link to Twitter and blogs on their aggregator page without being able to control the content. We'll see if they can pull it off.

Yawn! he better question is when will they "Launch" a Chapter 11

Why do this when their coverage is as skewed as CNN, and no one trusts them for their Iran coverage?

Thanks for telling me that you will be using the same editorial judgment as always.

No need to read.

McClatchy needs to stick with local news coverage. This is a drain on budgets and nothing but an ego booster for these incompetent and biased "reporters."

The McClatchy foreign and DC bureaus did everything they could to discredit President Bush and any Iraqi progress for their liberal Democrat brethren. Now, their biased reporting is so pro Hamas, it is pathetic. The job cuts should have started with these overpaid slackers, IMO. What frauds they are, sort of like their fake messiah. Who would believe one thing they write, or select? Liberal loons still in media corruption denial?

McClatchy deserves Chapter 11, it will be the final word for a totally worthless company.

After years of dishonest reporting, why would anyone care what they report about Iran? It will be just another figment of their warped imagines.

You guys are so out of touch with reality, it is pathetic. You've become the voice of the Republican Party, my party, and it's no wonder that we're losing credibility so fast.

If you don't think that McClatchy has a Far Left bias, then must be a lunatic Democrat/Liberal.

5:06 PM writes, “the Republican Party, my party“
---
You are pathetic, no one believes you belong to the GOP for one minute. Besides the GOP, there are more Independent voters denouncing Obama and the corrupt media that helped elect him every day. Try another line, Obama will be regarded worse than the old bugger Jimmah Carter when all is said and done.

5:06 I know what you mean and how you feel. I was a member of the Communist Party USA and supported Mr. Obama. I thought he would be the one to bring hope and change.

However I have had to rethink my support. His policies are too far left for even the most ardent supporter. No Communist would ever consider bankrupting the very country they were trying to seize, stifle all dissent, and destroy the working poor.

I just can't bring myself to leave the CPUSA and join a group as radical and hate filled as the democrat party.

Now, dear 5:06, the BS flag is in your corner. And remember, everything you read on the internet is true, otherwise they would not let you print it. Right?

You can’t blame 5:06 for not admitting he is a liberal that voted for the HopeyChangey fraud. It must sting to have voted for an ACORN community organizer that can’t even give a decent speech on his own. Talk about out of touch with reality?

You have to wonder why liberal loons write they belong to the GOP, as if anyone would believe them. Who wants or needs these losers on their side? The MSM except FOX News was in-the-tank for ‘The TelePrompTer Man’, and now journalism pays the price for their dishonesty; sounds only fair to me.
Buh bye, whackjobs.

Dream on, tired bitter old men. You've already been discredited, and no one listens any more except other tired bitter old men.

So Ted Kennedy only listens to Robert Byrd?

Pretty funny. Walcott is not a liberal. Far from it. And the Washington bureau busts their rear ends to get decent news out there. This is one of the only newspaper groups to actually have a Washington bureau AND foreign correspondents. If all you want is CNN, Fox and other lightweight, blow-dried TeeVee journalists, then by all means, don't support newspapers and only comment as 'Anonymous.'

Anonymous said...

8:18, that's exactly what they want: Faux news and right-wing talk radio demagogues. That way, their comfortable (although frightening) little world won't be disturbed by dissenting opinions, and they don't have to think.

Anonymous said...

You'd have to be naive to think they won't filter the content to fit their agenda.

That's how my party, the Democratic Party, of which I am a member, likes to operate, including me, because I'm a democrat who belongs to the Democratic Party, of which I am a member.
