This blog is mainly about the spectacular train wreck at The Sacramento Bee and its parent company, the McClatchy Company. But I also post about current events, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, politics, anything else that grabs my attention. Take a look around this blog, hope you enjoy it.
Cheer up 9:02. Getting laid off by McClatchy perhaps was the best thing that has happened to me recently. I worked for them for 20 years and now find I was stagnating. The job was good and I enjoyed but was getting stale. With the layoff came an opportunity to reinvent myself with the help of retraining paid for by the Employment Development Department. So hurry up and go through the 7 stages of mourning, then take a deep breath and step out in a new direction...hopefully one that is a little more recession resistant.
I'm almost at the point that I wish they would offer me a layoff package. I'm so tired of all of these projects coming so quickly with no time/people to do them. I'm also tired of mgmt expecting the same quality of output as before the spring of 2008 when the mass layoffs started. Why doesn't the board just give up and declare bankruptcy?
9:02.... start looking yesterday. It is a lot easier to look for a job or plan for a change when you still have a job.
Don't believe all the economic doom and gloom you see on TV or read about in the paper. Much of that was political and was intended to cause hate and discontent with the Bush administration.
The problem was it became a self fulfilling story. Ironic... the liberal news media wanted to feature horrible economic news and they became victims of their own agenda.
Anyway... there are many good jobs still out there. My neighbor sells high end TV's and electronics. He is just a salesman in the store but he did over $1.2 million in sales last month.
... If Fox News went off the air, would libs stop whining? Or would they find something new to whine about? Personally, I thought Obama's election would end liberal whining...clearly I was wrong...
Speaking of copying and pasting right-wing talking points...

Commission or min. wage? Actually there are not as many jobs out there and to get one, you have to know how to make your resume attract the computer programs that screen such. So it is a little different than 20 years ago when you just walked into a shop and dropped your traveler card at the union desk and got a job. But you can come out of it smelling like roses, just don't get too discouraged. I hear McClatchy is planning more layoffs soon!

If my post was a "right-wing talking point", then surely there are numerous examples of other conservatives who I "borrowed" it from. Please provide some examples of other conservatives using this same "talking point", or be honest enough to admit you can't. Thank you.

Number 11: Like missing the radical leftist who serves you coffee and says thank you and screw you in the same breath?
Gosh, I'm so going to miss the experience dude?
I won't have a job. I'll have to look for one in a depressed economy. I've been at this job for 20+ years.

The miserable people, who mainly make up the audience of McClathy Watch, will have nothing more to whine about.
But then again I'm sure you'll find something.
..And , 9:02, you can hold your head up high, as you will no longer be associated with a corrupt enterprise.

"Why doesn't the board just give up and declare bankruptcy?"
Because that would cause the McClatchy family to lose control of the company.
