This blog is mainly about the spectacular train wreck at The Sacramento Bee and its parent company, the McClatchy Company. But I also post about current events, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, politics, anything else that grabs my attention. Take a look around this blog, hope you enjoy it.

Email of the day
This email landed in my inbox yesterday:
I will be canceling our subscription tomorrow... I can no longer stand the bias in the news pages, let alone the double standards of the editorial pages...

How can this be? Everyone knows that bias has nothing to do with why we're going under and we have more subscribers than anytime in history! WE DID A STUDY!
Wake up 6:44...So what?...This is the tip of the iceberg as for every one that reports why they are canceling there are many others who don't take the time to tell anyone, they just drop their subscription. This is just a symptom of the problem, the ex-reader pointed out the real problem. ...THAT'S WHAT!!! It's called "The big picture".

You've obviously never worked for a newspaper -- circulation, newsroom, advertising, it doesn't matter. People are always canceling their subscription for some reason or other, and telling whoever they know at the paper. If the MW moderator has ever worked at a newspaper, he knows this very well. That's why "Email of the day" is such a stupid headline.
gary, calm down. the end of the world, as you know it, is near. YOU are worthless, as is mcclatchy. what comes next, gary? mcmansions, vacations homes, corporate perks, mni stock? who would choose to associate with you? gary, you selected too many bad decisions
The little “So what” posters are so cute. They can’t wait to post here, sweethearts that they are, and the keeps the hits up. We have to thank the little trolls for that, their tediousness and repetition aside.

I agree with 6:44 who cares.
"Who cares"?
A lot of people obviously care. If they didn't, the newspaper industry would still be making money.
