This blog is mainly about the spectacular train wreck at The Sacramento Bee and its parent company, the McClatchy Company. But I also post about current events, the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, politics, anything else that grabs my attention. Take a look around this blog, hope you enjoy it.

Gary Pruitt will discuss second quarter results July 21st
McClatchy announced its second quarter earnings conference call will be Tuesday, July 21st. Thanks to readers who pointed this out.
(I'm thinking this occasion calls for a Gary Pruitt poll.) . . .

Note: If the conference call is a collect call, you are screwed.
So I am still employed by McClatchy and generally rail on the people blaming all of the newspaper woes on liberalism but putting that all aside the results could be summed up as follows.
Bad.
Spin it any way you want but even if you put lysol on crap it's still crap.
Pruitt has got to go. He was completely unqualified for the position of CEO when he was named it.
Gary Pruitt and the board of directors wanted to be a large media conglomerate so that they could have more power. The debt they were willing to accept to become this conglomerate was astronomical. They should be fired because the results have been catastrophic. I am sure they will try to manufacture 2nd quarter results to the best of their ability but the facts are the debt is eating them alive and as long as it is there they are fooling themselves about this ship not sinking.

You know, that is funny. Never once have I ever seen anyone blame ALL of the newspaper woes on Liberalism, yet I have never once seen an acknowledgment from anyone employed by McClatchy who would attribute ANY newspaper woes on Liberalism (Bias)
Hell, they won't even admit that it is bad business to offend half of their potential audience, but just ask one to print a damning story about a corrupt advertiser.
Face it. The gig is up and they know it. Their only hope for survival is becoming a government organ so they are catering to those that will facilitate that. Socialists.
It isn't just here, it's all over. The French started AFP which is their official government newswire. Right after that, they passed a law that made it a crime for anyone but an official news agency to photograph a crime.
Venezuela along with most of South America nationalized their media and the Canadians, British and Australians all have their government owned number one propaganda organ. (CBC, BBC, ABC)
Global Socialism for you, run by a few is inevitable. The media will see to it.

Same results, different quarter.
Cast off the bowline. Full Speed ahead. We're leaner and meaner! Pay no attention to the - in front of our earnings surprise!
Oh yeah, we've decided to extend our parking lot deal. We are however confident that it will close before the deadline...uh the next deadline.

Sounds a lot like our government.

Funny how that works out.
