Question of the day

Newspaper columnists ought to be the perfect bloggers. So why aren't more doing it well?

I have a few more thoughts.

Newspaper columnists don't publish very often -- maybe 3 or 4 times a week, sometimes less. That's OK if you are published in a newspaper that people get every day. That way readers don't need to seek you out. But if you have a blog, you need to publish daily. Better if you do post several times a day. If you have a blog but don't post something new and fresh a couple of times a day, or more, readers will go somewhere else.

Second, you have to be interesting. Dull columnist Mike Hendricks from the Kansas City Star tried blogging -- and promptly took his blog private after just a few weeks. He gave no explanation, but I bet he did it because nobody wanted to read what he was bringing.

Short, snappy posts are the best blog entries and they should stir the emotions (or make the blood boil!) We don't have the time or the inclination to read long posts. Nobody reads those "important" three-part, investigative epics newspapers try to still pass off.

Nah! We don't have the attention span to read that kind of stuff. Anyway, we have Rush to tell us what to think, in nice short talking points.

Bloggers are not journalists. They are people who do no research in most anything they do. Instead they cater to the right and tell them what they want to hear. They will always find the negative in any positive. Much like Hannity and Limbaugh, both complete blowhards. IMO of course.

2:07 and 2:44 are right on point. That is why many of the right wing regulars come to this blog.

They can pat themselves on the back as they agree with each other and convince themselves that the entire world thinks the same way they do. Then for more confirmation they tune in Limbaugh and Hannity who play them like a musical instrument. The last thing they want to do is actually listen to a differing opinion and consider its merits.

Then when a candidate like Barack Obama wins an election it has to be because of the media because they already know everyone thinks like them.

Of course the same media they say elected Obama, is the same media they say no one pays any attention to any more.

Oh and by the way you can expect a post soon claiming this post, 2:07 and 2:44 are all the same person.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit. You have a reputation of replying to your own posts.

Pretty much that's 100% accurate. Now you'll be telling us that MW used to be a great blog, but now blah, blah, blah.

No MW has never been a great blog. It's always been mediocre at best. Jim Hopkins at Gannett blog has/had a good blog that actually broke news about the company.

MW is a decent blog, especially when the layoffs come.

It has got to be pretty good. Otherwise you wouldn't spend all your free time slandering it and attempting to disrupt every single thread.
