A Waterloo for Obama, how droll.
----
-Dems Start To Push Back Hard To Prevent A 'Waterloo'-
by Anna Edney, with Kasie Hunt and Peter Cohn
Nationaljournal.com

A telling episode recounted by Senate Finance ranking member Charles Grassley reveals the Obama administration might be more worried than they are letting on that a Republican senator's comparison of the healthcare overhaul to Waterloo might be dangerously close to the truth.
----
Don’t expect the corrupt media to tell you the truth about Obamascare. Why the big rush, Obama has not read the entire bill either? The reason for the rush, is that as the people begin to realize that socialized medicine is coming their way, the more they don’t want it. Obama breaks another of his campaign promises. Also, Robert Kennedy came out of rehab to vote, and then went back. Where is the press on this? The press just loves the Kennedy boys, right? Why not follow Robert Jr.'s every little move now?

Health Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is mocked at town-hall meeting, Really?
=====
Trying To Talk Around The Facts
New York Post
by Grace-Marie Turner

PRESIDENT Obama seems to believe he can talk his way past the reality of how his sweeping health-reform plan would affect the lives of 300 million Americans. (Snip) In an effort to generate public support for quick passage of the bills now before Congress, Health Secretary Kathleen Sebelius traveled on Monday to a town-hall meeting in Reserve, La. -- but the crowd wound up mocking her.

Where are Obooma’s newly hired ‘Minders’ aka known as attorneys. He hired a whole new slew of them. More attorneys on staff than any other president in history. These negative stories are getting past the empty suits.

O's Foreign Failures
New York Post, by Peter Brookes

MOST Americans have noticed that President Obama's economic policies aren't getting the job done. Fewer, however, realize that the administration's foreign policies are flagging after just six months in the White House, too. Yup, that's right: All that Obama hopey-changey, blame- America-first, anything-but-W stuff hasn't restored, much less advanced, America's position in the world as was promised.

SEOUL – North Korea, bristling at being described by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as behaving like an unruly child, responded in kind Thursday, calling her vulgar and less then clever. It is truly a sad day in America when the president of the United States fans the flames of racial hatred. The man elected to be president of all the people, in his speech at the NAACP basically said, though America is racist, sexist and homophobic, you can make it in spite of those white SOB's attempts to stop you. Obama delivers lackluster health care message. President spends an hour recycling old patches of rhetoric

By Howard Fineman
His prime time press conference was worse than a waste of time. He spent an hour (with the aide of a soporific White House press corps) pouring sand (one grain at a time) into the already-slowing gears of the machinery of health-care reform.

He made no real news on health care, but DID make news on race relations with his discussion of the Skip Gates case – thereby obscuring the topic he supposedly wanted to feature

Sweetie what is has to do with McClatchy, is it's palpable news, the kind McClatchy will never print.

Further, it points to what bias filth that McClatchy does print/ expel from their corporate body...kind of like you!

Speaking of which, how was last night Sweetie?

What I can’t believe is on the MSNBC page it says Fineman will be a guest on the Maddow show to give his analysis.

How will she stand for anything being bad being said about 0bama?

It looks like the MSM is even waking-up and slowly they are taking the crown off of Hitler II-0bama.

Im a little shocked.

4:32 AM- The articles I read here are from News sources, that does not make them rants just because you don't like the bad news for Obama.
All the news does not have to be about McClatchy, reread the blog's objectives, but the damage done by their biased and selected reporting will negatively impact all of us for years. So, in fact the news is about McClatchy’s failure to their job, indirectly.
You are very arrogant to think you can decide what anyone else should be doing at any time of the day or night. You didn’t get to post first, and your widdle feeling are hurt. I feel your phony pain, NOT! Sweetie is the perfect name for you, IMO.

On Cambridge-Race Case, Obama Spoke Stupidly (Bob Parks: Black & Right)

This is not another "just words" moment.

During a primetime press conference on the whole black-Harvard-scholar-being-racially-profiled-and-arrested-in-his-Cambridge-Massachusetts-home thing, President Obama said,

"Well, I should say at the outset that Skip Gates is a friend, so I may be a little biased here. I don't know all the facts."
This is where the president should have stopped and minded his own business, but the all-about-me man just couldn't contain himself...
Now, I don't know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts, what role race played in that. But I think it's fair to say, number one, any of us would be pretty angry; number two, that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home; and, number three, what I think we know separate and apart from this incident is that there's a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately. That's just a fact.

President Obama admits he didn't know much about the case, and yet slams a police department on national television. Is this stupid or what?

Changing the Law to Save Newspapers: Some Modest Proposals
by Jeffrey D. Neuburger

As newsroom staffs continue to shrink and newspapers go out of business at an alarming rate, the difficulty newspapers have experienced in gaining economic traction online has been blamed on blogs and websites that link to content on newspaper sites. According to some, this kind of "free riding" is responsible at least in part for the distress in which newspapers find themselves. A number of proposals have surfaced, in the U.S. and abroad, to change the law to "even the playing field" between new media and old.

Cheating wife faces honour killing - acid poured down lover's throat: Daily Mail

A married Muslim woman has been warned by police that she could be murdered in an honour killing after her lover was attacked with sulphuric acid.

Her 24-year-old Muslim lover is not expected to live after suffering 90 per cent burns in the attack, which blinded him and left his tongue destroyed.

He was also stabbed twice in the back by four men, and hit with bricks

The Danish victim, who is of Asian origin, is said to have ‘insulted’ her strictly religious relatives, some of whom wear the hijab, and detectives believe the family feared being shamed in the community.

FACT CHECK: Obama's health care claims adrift? (ap)

President Barack Obama's assertion Wednesday that government will stay out of health care decisions in an overhauled system is hard to square with the proposals coming out of Congress and with his own rhetoric.

Even now, nearly half the costs of health care in the U.S. are paid for by government at all levels. Federal authority would only grow under any proposal in play.

A look at some of Obama's claims in his prime-time news conference:

___

OBAMA: "We already have rough agreement" on some aspects of what a health care overhaul should involve, and one is: "It will keep government out of health care decisions, giving you the option to keep your insurance if you're happy with it."

THE FACTS: In House legislation, a commission appointed by the government would determine what is and isn't covered by insurance plans offered in a new purchasing pool, including a plan sponsored by the government. The bill also holds out the possibility that, over time, those standards could be imposed on all private insurance plans, not just the ones in the pool.

Arrests in submerged car deaths (Kingston, Canada)

Kingston Police have arrested at least three people in connection with the mysterious deaths of four Montreal women found in a submerged car in Kingston Mills June 30.

Three teenage sisters were found dead in the car, Zainab Shafi, 19, Sahar, 17, and Geeti, 13, along with a 50-year-old woman, Rona Amir Mohammed.

Initially, police said the case was suspicious but that they had not found evidence of foul play. It's not clear what charges are being laid, but The Whig-Standard learned that Kingston Police have been investigating, for at least two weeks, the allegation that the deaths were an honour killing.

Obama Attacks Docs and Cops
Washington Post

Snip...

The juvenile happy talk reached its peak with this presidential statement: “If there's a blue pill and a red pill, and the blue pill is half the price of the red pill and works just as well, why not pay half price for the thing that's going to make you well?” Now, there’s good idea. Why hasn’t anyone else thought of that? For this reform, we need to spend $1 trillion?

So on health care, I’d be surprised if the president changed any minds, because he never seriously tried to address criticism of his proposal on the merits.

But at press conferences there are often throwaway lines and unscripted moments that are interesting. I was struck by two that seemed to exemplify Obama’s easy disdain for the less enlightened among us -- in this case, for family docs and for Cambridge cops.

NY Times revenue continues rapid decline (Dinosaur Media DeathWatch™)
Boston Business Journal ^ | July 23, 2009 | Tim McLaughlin

Posted on Thursday, July 23, 2009 12:32:32 PM by abb

Revenue at The New York Times Co. fell 21 percent in the second quarter, hit by lower demand for print and Internet advertising at operations that include the Boston Globe.

Total revenue at the Times (NYSE: NYT) was $584.5 million in the second quarter, compared with $741.9 million in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue at the New England Media Group, which includes Globe operations, was off 19 percent in the second quarter. Advertising revenue during those three months fell 31 percent to $58.7 million at the group.

The publishing company said operating profit in the quarter fell 42 percent to $23.3 million. The Times has been slashing costs, with big pay and benefit cuts at the Globe, for example, as it faces paying off a substantial amount of debt.

The Globe also is on the sale block, but no bona fide offers have materialized.

Meanwhile, the parent company is carrying a $1 billion debt load. In 2011, for example, the company faces paying off $200 million.

But the company’s slashing of operating costs — a 20 percent reduction to $561.2 million in the second quarter — still did not outpace the 21.1 percent decline in revenue experienced by the publisher in the three months ended June 30.

Meanwhile, Internet revenue at Web sites that include Boston.com fell 14 percent to $78.2 million in the quarter. Print advertising has been in decline for some time, but the decline in Web-based ads is a relatively new wrinkle that further plagues cash-strapped metro newspapers.
