ORGANIZING THE 'WRONG' COMMUNITY
NY Post

Get this: The party of "community orga nizers" is now whining that President Obama's critics are organizing com munities -- against his health-care scheme.

The nerve of 'em, huh?

Faced with mushrooming opposition to ObamaCare, Democrats have launched a multi-media campaign that attacks foes as "extremists" who've "called out the mob" to "destroy President Obama" and "intimidate and silence regular people." They cite "the playbook of high-level Republican political operatives."

Actually, that sounds more like the tactics of the Chicago street, where Barack Obama and Rahm Emanuel cut their political teeth. Indeed, you can almost hear Richard Nixon grousing about angry anti-war protestors and pleading for "the great silent majority of Americans" to rise up.

WORLD BURNS AS 'DOC O' FIDDLES
NY Post

THIS week, as President Obama's surro gates denounced worried citizens as a "mob," leftist leaders abroad cracked heads.

More than a few Obamacrats may long for the same freedom of action as Venezuela's Hugo Chavez or Russia's Vladimir Putin.

To say nothing of North Korea's "dear leader," Kim Jong-Il, who made a former US president dance real close. Or Iran's "President" Ahmedinejad, who White House press secretary Robert Gibbs described as "elected." (Had a Bushie committed such a gaffe, it would've made headlines.)

Black Conservative Beating Up by 4 SEIU Thugs at Town Hall
Examiner.com

Eyewitness: "I was at the event. My name is David Brown. I am an atty in St. Louis. My friend, Kenneth Gladney, who is black, was passing out Don't Tread on Me Flags and Tea Party buttons at the end of the event to Tea Party supporters and conservatives.

He was then called a racial slur by two SEIU members. He was then attacked by two black males (SEIU reps) and white male, another SEIU rep., and a white woman. The punched him in the face and he fell to the ground. He was then kicked and punched by all four. One fled on foot, and three were arrested.

Kenneth was taken to St. John's Mercy Hospital to the emergency room. He has suffered numerous injuries. For more information, please contact me at PHONE NUMBER EDITED OUT. Thank you."

DEMS SNEAK UNION THUGS INTO CARNAHAN TOWN HALL-- 1,000 Tea Party Taxpayers Locked Out!

Before the event opened, Carnahan staff was sneaking in SEIU members in the side door marked "handicapped.”

Inside the gym they roped off two sections. One was for the tea party taxpayers that quickly filled up when they opened the doors at 6:00 PM, and the other section marked "reserved" was saved for the SEIU union members, with the rest of the crowd being locked out!

Is Significant Drop In African-American Support In Obama's Future?
(Townhall Matt Towery)

...I was startled when our firm, InsiderAdvantage, conducted this past week two separate surveys about various issues for corporate clients in the area. Both polls were conducted on the same night..

...I was shocked when one survey showed President Barack Obama with a disapproval rating of 35 percent among African Americans in Georgia, while the second one had it at 38 percent.

Those two results are statistically identical, as both polls had margins of error of plus or minus 4 percent.

Obama still shows relatively strong support coming from blacks in national surveys. So how do these two Georgia polls make sense?

At first blush, they don't. But I'm highly confident in our ability to gauge the opinions of black voters in Georgia and other Southern states. Our firm was the only one that indicated just how well Obama would fare in Georgia in the election last November. He got 47 percent of the vote, and might have done even better had he concentrated campaign resources here until Election Day.

Is Georgia an anomaly, or does it portend ominous things for the president?

Six people, including P-D reporter, arrested at Carnahan meeting (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH)

MEHLVILLE -- St. Louis County police on Thursday arrested at least four people, including a Post-Dispatch reporter, outside a town hall forum held by Rep. Russ Carnahan, said Dawn Majors, a Post-Dispatch photojournalist who witnessed everything unfold.

It happened about 8:30 p.m at Bernard Middle School on Forder Road in Mehlville. Carnahan, D-St. Louis, had drawn a rowdy crowd that overflowed the school gym and left dozens of people outside. Many of those who showed up at what had been billed as a forum on aging carried signs about the national health-care debate.

Dozens of people were kept out because there was no room for them inside. Members of the local Tea Party Coalition, a movement that has emerged to counter President Barack Obama’s policies, had urged their members to attend, which in turn spurred Democrats to establish a strong presence.

Barack Obama faces revolt over health care overhaul (TELEGRAPH U.K.)

US President Barack Obama faced a growing revolt against his $1.5 trillion health care reforms as his approval rating slumped to an all-time low and Democratic congressmen received death threats.

On the eve of Mr Obama's 200th day as president, his ratings slumped to 50 per cent, while a series of public meetings called by Democrats to promote the reforms have degenerated into mob scenes and a congressman received a death threat.

With progress of a health bill - which the White House had hoped for in July - stalled on Capitol Hill and rising concern over Mr Obama's handling of the economy, his national approval rating fell by seven per cent from last month. The new low is a far cry from the stratospheric ratings of his heady first days in office.

James Carville’s New Poll is so Bad For Democrats He Doesn’t Want You to Know it Exists(redstate.com)

Democracy Corps is James Carville and Stan Greenberg’s pet polling organization that always, without fail, issues polling picked up by the media highlighting how Republicans are screwed and Democrats are ever victorious...

...But unlike their other polls that they usher out with great fanfare, this poll was released with no announcement, no fanfare, and no media roll out.

Why?

Because the polling shows the Democrats are in a world of self-inflicted hurt...

...And among their pool of likely voters, 53% of those likely to vote in 2010 think Obama is too liberal. The same number think he’s going to raise taxes. 55% think he doesn’t deliver on his promises.

If Obama Loses Jon Stewart, He’s Lost America (Big Hollywood)

Luly 15, 2009, - a day that shall live in comedic infamy. The Obama administration’s first direct hit from reliably friendly allies. Former Saturday Night Live star, now stand up comic Dana Carvey was the guest on the new Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.

When O’Brien asked Carvey his opinion of Obama, Carvey trotted out some fresh material. “I’m worried. The economy just had a heart attack, but Barack just wants to work on the knee,” Carvey riffed.

”Should we do CPR? No, we’re gonna fix this knee. We can do CPR when it’s efficient and cost effective, but right now we’re going to work on the meniscus.

“Carvey concluded the bit suggesting George W. Bush would have used an economic “crash cart.” “Tax cuts for everybody - CLEAR!” The audience roared.

Were they laughing at Carvey’s “dumb guy” Bush impression, or was it the excitement of more money in their pockets as an economic remedy?

No matter the audience response. Carvey saw fit to address economic policy in his comedy. That’s telling....

For fear of being 'ambushed' by Republican "lynchmobs," Democratic congressman Brian Baird (WA-3) said he refuses to hold in person town hall meetings over the summer month long congressional recess.

Citing the G.O.P.'s "Brown Shirt tactics" as the impetus for his decision, Baird told the Columbian he will instead hold a telephone town hall.

France Fights Universal Care's High Cost (WSJ)

When Laure Cuccarolo went into early labor on a recent Sunday night in a village in southern France, her only choice was to ask the local fire brigade to whisk her to a hospital 30 miles away. A closer one had been shuttered by cost cuts in France's universal health system.

Doctors, trade unions and others have called national protests against French health-care cutbacks this year. One petition signed by prominent physicians said they feared the intent of the reform was to turn health care into a 'lucrative business' rather than a public service. Ms. Cuccarolo's little girl was born in a firetruck.

Anonymous said...

The problem with France is that they haven't figured out that to pay for something that they've never paid for -- before assuming control -- they needed to 'squeeze out all of the efficiencies from the system'. At least according to the Marxists -- efficiency is the problem -- too brutally uncaring.

GateHouse Media loses more millions in second quarter 2009
(Pulaski County Web)

GateHouse Media, the owner of 89 daily newspapers including the Waynesville Daily Guide outside Fort Leonard Wood where I worked before I resigned to begin the Pulaski County Daily News, announced its second-quarter results with more millions of dollars in losses.

I could say a lot about the decline of the traditional mainline media, but the numbers from their press release speak for themselves. GateHouse's CEO, Mike Reed, wrote this: "Our total revenue on a same-store basis declined 15.2% which was slightly better than the 16.3% decline we saw in the first quarter.

A six month study of the New York Times shows a bias toward the Palestinian narrative.

New York Times coverage often supports the Palestinian narrative without placing events in greater context.

Headlines, eyewitness accounts, and images depicted the Gaza conflict as Israeli aggression against Palestinian civilians.
Settlements are misrepresented by having images of tiny outposts accompany articles about settlements.

Issues such as Palestinian incitement are downplayed or ignored.

WaPo: Bush-Joker Kinda Made Sense, Obama-Joker Racist (Breitbart.com)

This required a few passes to be sure my eyes weren’t playing tricks. You keep telling yourself to stop being amazed by hypocrisy and bias, but again and again someone like Philip Kennicott, a staff writer for the Washington Post, comes up with nonsense like this:

And didn’t we see George W. Bush depicted as the Joker not so long ago?

Yes, in an image by Drew Friedman published online by Vanity Fair on July 29, 2008. That drawing at least played into a view of Bush popular among his detractors, that the former president was unpredictable and fast on the draw when it came to geopolitics.

But the danger many of Obama’s detractors detect is more of calculating, long-standing deception, that he is quietly and secretly marshaling a socialist agenda, a view that would be better served by imagery that recalled “The Manchurian Candidate.”

A few paragraphs later the R-word is finally (and predictably) let loose and the anonymity of the artist(s) becomes an issue:

So why the anonymity? Perhaps because the poster is ultimately a racially charged image. By using the “urban” makeup of the Heath Ledger Joker, instead of the urbane makeup of the Jack Nicholson character, the poster connects Obama to something many of his detractors fear but can’t openly discuss.

He is black and he is identified with the inner city, a source of political instability in the 1960s and ’70s, and a lingering bogeyman in political consciousness despite falling crime rates.

Obama’s pattern of intolerance toward dissent. (WTF? SF Examiner Jumps the Shark?)

Dissent, it turns out, is no longer patriotic. President Barack Obama’s White House and his Democratic National Committee have unleashed an all-out assault on what they call “angry,” “manufactured” and “lobbyist-funded” lies about health care reform. Look closely and you realize that’s how they classify all dissent.

Obama, when speaking at Notre Dame University last spring amid anti-abortion protests, said, “When we open up our hearts and our minds to those who may not think precisely like we do or believe precisely what we believe, that’s when we discover at least the possibility of common ground.”

But his record of dealing with actual dissent paints a different picture, one that suggests he has so much faith in his own good intentions and clever plans — and so little skepticism about the power of government to do good — that he sees all disagreement with his policies as condemnable.

“David Freddoso has made a career off dishonest, extreme hatemongering,” Obama’s presidential campaign wrote about my friend and now Examiner colleague David Freddoso last September in an effort to get a radio host to drop him.

The campaign e-mail called Freddoso a “card-carrying member of the right-wing smear machine” and said his anti-Obama book (for which I was the editor) contained “lies and smears about Barack Obama.”

Angry Mob of Racist Extremists Beats Black Man at Town Hall Meeting (Patterico)

I guess the Democrats were right after all. At a town meeting held by a Democrat congressman, a rowdy group of organized and angry thugs showed up to make a point about ObamaCare, and then beat up a man. Race was involved, too: the victim was black — attacked by a man yelling racial slurs.

It’s every Democrat talking point you’ve read about in the last day or two, come to life in an ugly fashion.

With one twist. The black victim was a conservative, and the assailants may well have been union thugs:

Kenneth Gladney, a 38-year-old conservative activist from St. Louis, said he was attacked by some of those arrested as he handed out yellow flags with “Don’t tread on me” printed on them. He spoke to the Post-Dispatch from the emergency room of the St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, where he said he was waiting to be treated for injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face that he suffered in the attack. Gladney, who is black, said one of his attackers, also a black man, used a racial slur against him before the attack started.

“It just seems there’s no freedom of speech without being attacked,” he said.

Not when you have angry mobs of left-wing extremists around . . .

Obama 'Snitch' Program Put On Notice

A nonprofit public interest law firm is demanding that the White House withdraw a citizen "snitch" program that seeks to collect information on those who make "fishy" statements about President Obama's health care "reform."

The White House announced the program Aug. 4, pleading with people around the nation to forward to a White House e-mail address anything they see "about health insurance reform that seems fishy."

An attorney for Red State noted that the White House's actions may be in violation of current U.S. law:

"According to 5 U.S.C. § 552a, United States agencies, including the Executive Office of the President shall, 'maintain no record describing how any individual exercises rights guaranteed by the First Amendment unless expressly authorized by statute or by the individual about whom the record is maintained or unless pertinent to and within the scope of an authorized law enforcement activity.'"

Attorney Eric Erickson noted, "This will be the first significant time the White House has ignored the Privacy Act and may open President Obama up to litigation."

He may be calling but what he doesn't understand is that many of the people he is calling are life long union people who have no desire for community organizers and the government to decide when and how Mom, Dad, Grandma and Grandpa are going to die.

I've been a union member all my life and I am telling you right now that huge numbers of union people do not support a government takeover of our health care system.

The Town Hall Mob

... So this is something new and ugly. What’s behind it?

Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary, has compared the scenes at health care town halls to the “Brooks Brothers riot” in 2000 — the demonstration that disrupted the vote count in Miami and arguably helped send George W. Bush to the White House. Portrayed at the time as local protesters, many of the rioters were actually G.O.P. staffers flown in from Washington.

But Mr. Gibbs is probably only half right. Yes, well-heeled interest groups are helping to organize the town hall mobs. Key organizers include two Astroturf (fake grass-roots) organizations: FreedomWorks, run by the former House majority leader Dick Armey, and a new organization called Conservatives for Patients’ Rights.

The latter group, by the way, is run by Rick Scott, the former head of Columbia/HCA, a for-profit hospital chain. Mr. Scott was forced out of that job amid a fraud investigation; the company eventually pleaded guilty to charges of overbilling state and federal health plans, paying $1.7 billion — yes, that’s “billion” — in fines. You can’t make this stuff up.

But while the organizers are as crass as they come, I haven’t seen any evidence that the people disrupting those town halls are Florida-style rent-a-mobs. For the most part, the protesters appear to be genuinely angry. The question is, what are they angry about?

There was a telling incident at a town hall held by Representative Gene Green, D-Tex. An activist turned to his fellow attendees and asked if they “oppose any form of socialized or government-run health care.” Nearly all did. Then Representative Green asked how many of those present were on Medicare. Almost half raised their hands.

Now, people who don’t know that Medicare is a government program probably aren’t reacting to what President Obama is actually proposing. They may believe some of the disinformation opponents of health care reform are spreading, like the claim that the Obama plan will lead to euthanasia for the elderly. (That particular claim is coming straight from House Republican leaders.) But they’re probably reacting less to what Mr. Obama is doing, or even to what they’ve heard about what he’s doing, than to who he is.

That is, the driving force behind the town hall mobs is probably the same cultural and racial anxiety that’s behind the “birther” movement, which denies Mr. Obama’s citizenship. Senator Dick Durbin has suggested that the birthers and the health care protesters are one and the same; we don’t know how many of the protesters are birthers, but it wouldn’t be surprising if it’s a substantial fraction.

And cynical political operators are exploiting that anxiety to further the economic interests of their backers...

In a wing-nut world, Granny is toast

I am as happy as anyone at signs of an economic recovery. But I confess to having mixed feelings about the resurgence of the wing-nut industry.

We now have “The Birthers’’ manufacturing myths that President Obama was not born in the United States and therefore is serving illegally. They are following the business plan of those earlier entrepreneurs selling the idea that Obama had killed his grandma. Consider the scare-biz Internet scribe who penned the memorable line: “Obama flies to Hawaii to visit his grandmother and just a few days later she winds up dead. Coincidence?’’

But now the industry has ratcheted up from accusing Obama of killing his grandma to accusing him of trying to kill your grandma.

The campaign is based on a small provision in the healthcare bill that would allow Medicare to reimburse doctors for time spent consulting with patients about their end-of-life choices.

This modest idea was willfully distorted by people such as Betsy McCaughey, the former lieutenant governor of New York, who said that the bill would “absolutely require’’ end-of-life counseling that “will tell them how to end their life sooner.’’ Republican leader John Boehner offered the same flawed product, saying, “This provision may start us down a treacherous path toward government-encouraged euthanasia.’’

Their views were also sold by right-wing franchise operators. Laura Ingraham warned that government bureaucrats would “come to an old person’s house’’ - yeah, house calls! - for scary death chats. Randall Terry, the Zelig of the pro-life movement, said this was an attempt to “kill Granny.’’

Panic is their most important product. The bill doesn’t really mandate anything. It simply assures that a talk about advance care planning will be covered for the patients and families who want it. As Obama told a woman at an AARP forum, “It strikes me that that’s a sensible thing to do.’’ But who would trust someone who offed his grandma?

All in all, Fearmongers Inc. plays on the notion that advance directives are a sneaky way of cutting costs by cutting life short.

Well, here’s what we know: One-quarter of all Medicare dollars are spent in the last year of life, much of it in the last month. We don’t know yet whether it will cost less (and how much less) for patients to choose high-quality palliative care. It surely isn’t the cheap fix to the health cost spiral...

You're projecting. The topic is your actions and the problem lies entirely within yourself. Not to worry however, this is a common symptom in cases of arrested development.

The key is to recognize when you are having an inexplicable tantrum and heading it off by telling yourself that calling these people names is not only, not going to persuade them to consider my point of view. It may well alienate them even further and reinforce their belief that I am the stereotypical example of my ideological kin and should therefore, never be listened too under any circumstance.

See what I mean. This is where the vicious cycle begins in earnest as the more you rant, the less they listen, increasing your stress and magnifying your childish need to strike out.

This is actually a bald faced lie. The point, not campaign is based on a huge portion of the bill that designates a board of appointees who will reimburse COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS for their MANDATORY end of life counseling.

The board (not your doctor) will also determine what health care you can receive and WILL appoint their specific doctors who are allowed to make END OF LIFE DECISIONS.

When asked if this meant that ACORN was going to be eligible for such duties, Senator Dodd said that he could not rule that out. ACORN HeathCare coming at you.

The press and the polls say that public support for President Obama's health care reform is slipping. And, despite denials by the administration, the vast majority of Americans fear Congressional plans will ultimately reduce their choices and lower the quality of their care.

Americans spend much more on health care than any other country without receiving significantly better health outcomes. I am even willing to countenance a government-run program for those who can't afford private insurance. But I still have big questions that make me very uneasy about upcoming legislation. Bush was basically a Democrat disguised as a Repub. Either that or he had no balls when it came to conservative ideals. Illegal immigration was a prime example of Bush as a gutless lib. He was a disgrace to conservatism and a president who should be admired by all good libs.

AFL-CIO's Trumka Denounces Town Meeting 'Mobs,' (Ignores His Own Union thugs) NLPC

Almost nobody doubts that come September, Richard Trumka will become the AFL-CIO's next president, replacing the retiring John Sweeney. Having occupied the labor federation's secretary-treasurer position for nearly 14 years, he's done everything his boss and the ideological faithful could ask of him. That's a major reason why he and his slate are running unopposed.

But more than Sweeney, Trumka, a trained lawyer, has a palpably combative edge, much of it honed during his tenure as head of the United Mine Workers of America.

His far Left populism was on display Thursday in his written denunciation of the "mob rule" allegedly exercised by attendees at meetings across the U.S. organized by members of Congress to discuss White House and congressional health plans.

The statement provides a sneak preview of what Trumka will bring to the AFL-CIO's top spot.

Obama as the great unifier? That is a good one! Never has the USA been divided as it is now. The Democrats want us to snitch on each other. Obama uses thugs and lies to sell his failed health care plan. The Democrats won’t appear in public to answer questions, stating the staged protests, but send out union thugs to hit back twice as hard. A black man was assaulted in ST. Louis, and peppered with racial slurs, and the Jesse Jackson crowd says nothing. What a crock of shit this Hope and Change agenda is. Gay America, get your priorities straight
New York Daily News, by S.E. Cupp

On the cover of this month's The Advocate, the Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgendered (LGBT) magazine, is a version of the now iconic Shepard Fairey poster of Barack Obama. In The Advocate's version, instead of the word "Hope" under Obama's stoic visage, it reads "Nope?" And this Barack doesn't look proud and presidential - he looks downright shifty. Needless to say, it's a jarring image. (Snip) What is going on here?

Obama has never done much for the gay advocates. He believes marriage is between a man and a woman, etc. The gays have been very vocal in their displeasure with Obama (at least the activist gays). I think he has more important issues to deal with than the tiny gay population and their annoying demands.

Government Medicine Kills - The U.K. and Canada prove it. (NRO)

Imagine that your two best friends are British and Canadian tobacco addicts. The Brit battles lung cancer. The Canadian endures emphysema and wheezes as he walks around with clanging oxygen canisters. You probably would not think: “Maybe I should pick up smoking.”

The fact that America is even considering government medicine is equally wacky. The state guides health care for our two closest allies: Great Britain and Canada. Like us, these are prosperous, industrial, Anglophone democracies.

Nevertheless, compared to America, they suffer higher death rates for diseases, their patients experience severe pain, and they ration medical services.

Look what you’re missing in the U.K.:

Breast cancer kills 25 percent of its American victims. In Great Britain, the Vatican of single-payer medicine, breast cancer extinguishes 46 percent of its targets.

Prostate cancer is fatal to 19 percent of its American patients. The National Center for Policy Analysis reports that it kills 57 percent of Britons it strikes.

Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development data show that the U.K.’s 2005 heart-attack fatality rate was 19.5 percent higher than America’s. This may correspond to angioplasties, which were only 21.3percent as common there as here.

Robert Gibbs assured Jake Tapper that the new White House initiative to get people to snitch on their neighbors for dissenting on ObamaCare had nothing to do with collecting names. Oh, no — that would not be Hope and Change! Instead, it has everything to do with collecting our e-mails:

Asked about Cornyn’s letter on Thursday afternoon, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said, “nobody is collecting names.”

The blog and tips email was because, Gibbs said, “we have seen, and as I’ve discussed from this podium, a lot of misinformation around health care reform. Some of it I think spread purposely. We have used on many occasions the Web site to debunk things that are simply not true. We ask people if they have questions about health care reform and about what they’re hearing about its affects on them, to let us know and we’d provide them information to show that that wasn’t true.”

REAL Jobless Rate Already Tops 10 Percent

The White House, reacting to the latest jobless report showing the unemployment rate fell unexpectedly to 9.4 percent in July, predicted that despite the good news the rate would still hit 10 percent before year's end. But in effect it already has. The actual percentage of Americans who remain unemployed -- including those who have stopped looking for work -- is considerably higher than 9.4 percent and surpassed 10 percent months ago. CNN Exposes Government's Funny Math for Clunker Program, SUV Really Most Popular By Julia A. Seymour

The Senate stepped in to save Cash for Clunkers Aug. 6, giving it a $2billion extension. But on Aug. 7, CNN.com found a big difference between independent analysis and government claims of which cars were most popular buys.

Peter Valdes-Dapena explored the difference between government data on the clunkers program (claiming small cars were most popular) and Edmunds.com analysis which showed that "two full-size trucks and a small crossover SUV were actually among the top-ten buys."

"The discrepancy is a result of the methods used. Edmunds.com uses traditional sales measurements, tallying sales by make and model.

The government uses a more arcane measurement method that subdivides models according to engine and transmission types, counting them as separate models," Valdes-Dapena wrote.

After all the Obama administration’s harping on ending obesity and healthier eating, I can understand why they might not want anybody taking pictures of them scarfing on junk:

Michelle Obama, like her husband, enjoys a good burger, but not as well done. The first lady brought daughters Malia and Sasha to former “Top Chef” contestant Spike Mendelsohn’s Good Stuff Eatery in DC for cheeseburgers, onion rings, fries, and milkshakes. “They got the burgers medium,” says a spy.

(President Obama was mildly ridiculed after ordering a burger medium-well in January.) “Three starving Secret Service guys were literally standing over the grill as Spike made the burgers, but didn’t eat,” our source adds.

Fellow patrons had their cellphones temporarily confiscated to prevent pictures from being taken.

Hey, cameras weren’t banned when Bill Clinton bought a double burger (hold the mayo), onion rings, french fries, apple pie and a milkshake a couple of weeks ago —and on the eve of a conference on obesity no less:
