ABC: Obama adviser apologizes for past incendiary statements, denies agreeing with petition he signed

Jake Tapper has the latest on nutjob Obama adviser Van Jones.

A top environmental official of the Obama administration issued a statement Thursday apologizing for past incendiary statement and denying that he ever agreed with a 2004 petition on which his name appears, a petition calling for congressional hearings and an investigation by the New York Attorney General into "evidence that suggests high-level government officials may have deliberately allowed the September 11th attacks to occur."

Van Jones, the Special Advisor for Green Jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, is Number 46 of the petitioners from the so-called "Truther" movement which suggests that people in the administration of President George W. Bush "may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war."

In a statement issued Thursday evening Jones said of "the petition that was circulated today, I do not agree with this statement and it certainly does not reflect my views now or ever."

He did not explain how his name came to be on the petition. A source said Jones did not carefully review the language in the petition before agreeing to add his name.

So we judge people on who they choose as friends? Obama has a boat load of scumbag friends he calls czars. Most of them will have to resign before the end of the year.

Van Jones is scary. He is just a thug! I think his apology is ‘fishy’, and I must write Obama at once. Oh wait, will I be blacklisted?
Bwhahahaha

How much do all these czars cost taxpayers? That is a very good question, but no answer so far. Where is the watchdog press? On Obama's lap?

Glenn Beck was right. He has the goods on other czars Obama seems to need to advise him. WTF is going on that Zero needs scumbags around him. Actually, we saw the scumbags he always had around him, but the liberal media chose to bury it in the name of electing a socialist.

Mural Featured at Van Jones Ella Baker Center Features White Men Shooting, Enslaving Minorities

Gateway Pundit today posted screen grabs from a 2008 interview of Obama Green Czar Van Jones seated in front of a large mural at the organization Jones founded, the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights.

The mural features on one side a white man shooting a Latino woman holding a child.

On the other side it features a white man putting chains on a young Black man.

Green Jobs Czar:Wants to 'Focus' on 'Creat(ing) Jobs';Told Newsweek Can't Define What Green Job Is
(NewsBusters.org)

Avowed Communist and Barack Obama Administration "Green Jobs Czar" Van Jones late yesterday released via the White House press office a statement apologizing for offending anyone with any of a series of inflammatory and indeed ridiculous things he has said in the (very recent) past.

The latest bit of Jones inanity news was in fact not something he said, but rather something on to which he signed. That would be an October 26, 2004 "Truth Statement" that asserts amongst other things that President George W. Bush had a hand in the September 11th terrorist attacks.

Making Jones a 9-11 "Truther" (sort of like a "Birther," but with a lot less media coverage), i.e. a conspiracy-addled doofus. (He is addled by other conspiracy theories as well, but for now this will do.)

In said apology statement, Jones uttered the following:

MUST SEE VID: Van Jones: U.S. Was "Apartheid Regime" (Real Clear Politics)

Van Jones: "We forget sometimes that the people who poured out their blood on the ground in this country, to turn an apartheid regime into a struggling, fledgling democracy, the so-called civil rights workers, when they went to face the dogs, when they went to face the fire hoses, when they sat shivering in cold jail cells soaked in blood, when they faced lynch mobs, when they found their children shot down in the street, they didn't march at laundromats , they didn't march at high school gymnasiums."

Even liberals cannot justify someone like Van Jones having an office in the White House. Where is the media outrage. Only Fox News has stayed on the story. That is why liberals hate Fox News! Even the failure Obama had to knock them, well duh Obie, how long did you think you could control the news?

Van Jones quoted in 1995 book
That's the Joint: the Hip Hop (StudiesReader)

"As scary as people thought gangsta rap was, it's nothing compared to young people using hip-hop to express what they're going through and targeting the people who are really responsible."

"I don't believe the power of the people can be confined to the ballot box. We need to be about the whup-ass. Somebody's f***ing up somewhere. They have names and job descriptions. You have to be creative about how you engage the enemy..."

Van Jones Supported a Cop-Killer; Van Jones Says “Kanye Was Right”
—Gabriel Malor

Slublog does the research that the Obama Administration couldn’t be bothered to do and turns up some obvious warning signs that Van Jones was a nutjob.

First, in 1999 he organized a protest in support of convicted cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal.

I can’t find a link to the article (let me know if you find one), but it ran in the October 9, 1999, San Francisco Chronicle on page A17 under the headline: “Timing of Protest is Suspect; Mumia supporters disrupt youth event”. The meat:

A supporter of a Pennsylvania death row inmate denied that demonstrators were trying to upstage a long-planned dialogue between Oakland police and local youth Thursday night.

[...]

Supporters of Mumia Abu-Jamal, a death row inmate convicted for the 1981 shooting death of a Philadelphia police officer, said the protest was called after the Supreme Court on Monday rejected claims that Abu-Jamal, a former radio journalist and Black Panther, did not receive a fair trial.

“We knew there was another event going on, but the timing of the court decision is what dictated when the protest was held,” said Van Jones, a San Francisco civil rights lawyer who helped coordinate the protest march.

Jones said about 15 protesters occupied the rotunda at the Federal Building on Clay Street in an act of civil disobedience with the hope they would be arrested.

Yes, the “Green Jobs Czar” hoped to be arrested and ruined a planned event for cops and kids. In Oakland, where they probably needed that stuff badly.

Second, in November 2005, the East Bay Express noted Jones’ appearance at a conference for environmental radicals:

By the time the final speaker addressed the crowd, people shuffled restlessly in their seats as a lone infant wailed. Van Jones, a tall, dark-skinned man wearing a “Kanye was right” T-shirt under his black blazer, seemed to have little in common with his audience of predominately white hippies.

The FBI had better come out with how they vetted Van Jones, or who is going to trust them again? I am betting Obama waved the FBI vetting. I also doubt the MSM will even ask a question. The jig is up, corrupt media, the jig is up.

Wasn't Obama supposed to be all about bringing race together, ending racism and spreading the love and change? He's been a complete failure on all fronts. Judging by all this creepy friends, he lied to America to get elected.

John Altevogt said...

There are two major problems with many black public officials. the first is that they tend to be immersed in a culture of corruption, their baliwicks being in large urban areas noted for corruption.

Corruption, however is rampant on both sides of the aisle and in politicians of all colors. The major problem is that so many of them are also immersed in a culture of these looney conspiracy theories.

One of my major projects was to invade urban radio with pro-conservative campaign spots and what we found was that we as conservatives were alone in a territory where hatred and absolutely lunatic theories are not not only spewed out, but embraced by otherwise rational and intelligent people.

The equivalent among white folks are the people claiming to have been kidnapped by flying saucers, people who nightly hear black helicopters. the difference being we don't elect such loons to high political office, and the black community does.

Pick virtually member of the black congressional caucus and I'm betting if you could get close to them to hear private conversations you'd hear exactly the same kind of stupidity espoused by this goof, Jeremiah Wright and Calypso Louie.

Unfortunately, I think, rather than improving race relations, Obama and his administration will set them back decades. They can't help themselves, because they've never before been held accountable for these kinds of remarks.

More Van Jones quotes.

"Most of the people who die in police custody die not from drugs or some mysterious syndrome but from police abuse," says Van Jones, executive director of the Ella Baker Human Rights Center in San Francisco.

"Officers choose to escalate confrontations and use force when dealing with disturbed and excited people."

Jones points out that many of the cases cited as prime examples of excited delirium or sudden in-custody death syndrome involve gross police misconduct and extreme violence.

...it’s just very, very hard for white people to hear the pain of the subjugated people in this country...

...But white supremacy, to use the provocative term, will reinterpret that experience for you; and make it not be about your inability to hear, but be about other people’s inability to speak.

This is one of the most remarkable things: if you can get this, all doors open.

There is the assumption—this is deep, this is deep—there is the assumption that when there’s a breakdown in communication between people of color and white people, that there is an deficiency but that the deficiency is not in white listening, that the deficiency is in black speech.

“Why are they so angry?” People start critiquing, and then you find somebody who keeps themselves together just for a little bit and it’s, “Oh that one’s very eloquent, that one’s very articulate.”

Right? Always the assumption is that the deficiency lies with the people of color.

“Why don’t they care about the environment? What wrong with them, don’t they see the big picture? We’ve been talking at them about this for years?

Don’t they see that we have this big beautiful conference, this big beautiful training? Why aren’t they coming? What’s wrong with them? We’ve been outreaching at them for years,

I could show you the e-mails I’ve sent outreaching at them. I even make phone calls out reaching at them. What’s wrong with them?

Maybe they are just too poor or busy, because certainly there is nothing wrong with our speech!” ...

...it is literally impossible for most white people to hear people of color speak about our pain, just literally impossible. The only people who have a chance to pull it off, are people who have a spiritual practice, who have a meditation practice, who have a contemplative practice..

More Van Jones:

“I love Barack Obama,” he said. “I’d pay money just to shine the brother’s shoes. But I’ll tell you this. Do you hear me? One man is not going to save us. I don’t care who that man is. He’s not going to save us. And, in fact, if you want to be real about this—can y’all take it? I’m going to be real with y’all. Not only is Barack Obama not going to be able to save you—you are going to have to save Barack Obama.”

“I’m willing to forgo the cheap satisfaction of the radical pose for the deep satisfaction of radical ends.”

Van Jones, a tall, dark-skinned man wearing a "Kanye was right" T-shirt...the self-described "rowdy black nationalist" is best known as founder of the Ella Baker Center... (remember Kanye West's comment about President Bush?)

“Republicans are assholes” - Van Jones, Berkeley, Calif.

To paraphrase Van Jones to his stoned and radical followers:

"Someone is going to make a million dollars on windmills and green technology...I think that somebody should be you (you meaning you Boyz-in-the-Hood)!"

Now just how does a sane human being come to such a conclusion?

Another Apology May Be Coming From Van Jones (The Washington Times)

White House green jobs czar Van Jones had apologized twice this week for making regrettable statements and there may be another one coming.

His name is posted online in support of an October 2006 petition to stop police brutality posted by the Revolution newspaper, which describes itself as the “Voice of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA.”

The petition was created by a group called the October 22nd Coalition that seeks to "meet the intensifying nationwide epidemic of police brutality with resistance on the national level" and says it works with the International Concerned Family and Friends of Mumia Abu Jamal.

Other groups and individuals signing the petition include:

Act Now to Stop War and End Racism,

Freedom Socialist Party of San Francisco,

International Socialist Organization of San Francisco,

Justice4Palestinians,

New Black Panther Party's New York Chapter and the Party for Socialism and Liberation.

There were rumors, feelings, hints that Obama had surrounded himself with not merely leftists, but communists, just as their had been rumors, feelings and hints that Clinton was messing around.

But this is undeniable, prove it in court kind of proof. And just as the blue dress promoted Drudge from gossip to credible news source, Van Jones will promote Beck from voice crying in the wilderness to the voice of America.

Presidential Advisor and Communist Van Jones Deeply Involved in 911 Conspiracy Movement

Yesterday, news broke out that Barack Obama’s communist Green Czar was a 9-11 Truther.

The administration much later in the day released a statement saying Van Jones was “not now or ever” involved in the 9-11 Truther movement.

Jones said the petition he signed in 2004 did not reflect his views and that he did not carefully review the language in the petition before agreeing to add his name..

Not true.

This article at Rense.com from 2002links Van Jones to the 9-11 Truther movement at its infancy:

Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement (STORM), the revolutionary group formed by self-described “communist” and “rowdy black nationalist” Van Jones, held a vigil in Oakland, California, “mourning the victims of U.S. imperialism around the world” on the night after Sept. 11, 2001.

White House Declines to Say Van Jones Enjoys "the Confidence of the President" (ABC)

Asked if controversial White House official Van Jones continues to enjoy the confidence of President Obama given recent revelations about his involvement with those who suggest the Bush administration knew about the 9/11 attacks and allowed them to happen in order to justify a war for oil, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs Friday morning would only say "he continues to work in this administration."

Jones, the Special Advisor for Green Jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, last night issued a statement apologizing for past controversial remarks and said a petition which he signed suggesting that President Bush "may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen" perhaps to justify war in Afghanistan or Iraq, "does not reflect my views now or ever."

An administration source said Jones says he did not carefully review the language in the petition before agreeing to add his name.

But this morning it became known that Jones was on the organizing committee of a 2002 march making similar insinuations and allegations.

Van Jones' '9/11 Truther' Past Raises Questions About Obama's 'Czars' Fox News

This is a rush transcript from "Hannity," September 3, 2009. This copy may not be in its final form and may be updated.

SEAN HANNITY, HOST: tonight, we bring you new and disturbing information about a member of the president's inner circle. He is green jobs “czar” Van Jones. Now the statements that he has made and the alliances he has formed show that he is not fit for office.

Now Mr. Jones signed a letter sent by the infamous 9/11 Truth organization to former New York governor Eliot Spitzer. Now that organization alleges that the U.S. government is responsible for the 9/11 attacks, that it knowingly conspired to murder 3,000 American civilians.

Now the letter which demanded, quote, "real answers" to 9/11 called for a, quote, "immediate inquiry into evidence that suggests high-level government officials may have deliberately allowed the September 11th attacks to occur."

It also raised questions like, quote, "How could Flight 77, which reportedly hit the Pentagon have flown back towards Washington D.C. for 40 minutes without being detected by the FAA's radar or the radar possessed by the U.S. military."

Now the letter was signed by brilliant minds like a Janeane Garofalo and former Georgia Representative Cynthia McKinney along with Mr. Jones.

Now the fact that the president would not only allow but appoint a man who harbors these conspiratorial beliefs to serve the United States should provoke not only concern but outrage among all Americans.

And that just scratches the surface.

Jones has also revealed himself to be a race baiter. Here he is accusing white polluters of targeting minority communities. Take a look at this.

As White House Briefings Get Hotter, Gibbs and Press Play Game of PiƱata (FoxNews)

If the president's mouthpiece is a human pinata, as one former press secretary put it, then Robert Gibbs is a papier mache tiger.

And the White House press secretary is feeling the hits more and more, as the daily briefings get more contentious and he faces an increasingly prying press corps.

Pinata may not be a role Gibbs is comfortable playing. His tendency is toward levity, and he's kept that trademark sense, injecting humor into the situation to keep tensions from flaring too much -- a joke here, a playful metaphor there, a little bit of physical comedy.

But in response to rising pressure, analysts say Gibbs is showing a thin skin, quick to punch back and take a dig at a reporter rather than absorb it and move on

If you heard that that adviser, Van Jones, had apologized for a number of remarks and positions in the recent past, your response would be, "What?" All Three Morning Shows Skip Any Reference to Radical Obama Czar and 9/11 Truthers (NewsBusters)

All three morning shows on Friday skipped any reference to the developing controversy over Obama administration Green Jobs Czar Van Jones and his connection to the 9/11 Truther movement.

CBS’s Early Show, NBC’s Today and ABC’s Good Morning America totally ignored the story, although ABC’s Jake Tapper did file an online report over the subject.

And although Fox News on Thursday covered the revelation that Jones signed a 911truth.org statement in 2004 urging an investigation into whether or not George W. Bush had prior knowledge about 9/11 ("people within the current administration may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war"), none of nightly news programs highlighted this potential problem for the Obama administration.

So, while Good Morning America found no time for this incendiary topic, co-anchor Robin Roberts did host a segment on testing name brand versus store brand pizza.

Early Show’s Harry Smith explained to viewers how to keep your lawn in top condition this autumn.

And Today’s co-hosts thrilled over the must-have fashions for the fall season.

Van Jones Led Effort to Undermine War on Al Qaeda Months After 9/11

Van Jones, Barack Obama's Green Czar, was part of the organizing committee for a leftist effort to undermine the United States in the war on terror just months after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

Jones signed a statement by the organizing committee in early January 2002 accusing the United States of having "mercilessly bombed Afghanistan" in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks by al Qaeda, which at the time was being protected by Afghanistan's Taliban-led government.

The statement, found on Rense.com, is part of an appeal for funds to start a bi-weekly newspaper dedicated to undermining the United States in the war on terror and to push "social justice" and the green movement.
