John Stossel explains why Obama's health care plan would be a disaster

A reader tipped me off to this compelling video by John Stossel.

EXIT QUESTION: Would you rather watch Stossel at his new home on FOX News, or Olbermann/Maddow frothing over at MSNBC?

Not much depth to this report. It's superficial, hit-and-run. Why not talk to several Canadian doctors? Why not give details about why the guy in Britain pulled his own teeth? Why not answer the point that one-sixth of Americans don't have access to our awesome healthcare system, or that one of every six dollars is poured into it?

Stunner. Dems Vote Down ID Requirement for Immigrant Health Care (GatewayPundit)

Update: Reject Stronger Anti-Abortion Language Too

They did it again. Democrats just voted down a photo ID requirement for immigrant health care.

The Hill Blog reported: Senate Finance Committee Democrats rejected a proposed requirement that immigrants prove their identity with photo identification when signing up for federal healthcare programs.

Finance Committee ranking member Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said that current law and the healthcare bill under consideration are too lax and leave the door open to illegal immigrants defrauding the government using false or stolen identities to obtain benefits.

Grassley's amendment was beaten back 10-13 on a party-line vote.

The bill, authored by committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.), would require applicants to verify their names, places of birth and Social Security numbers.

In addition, legal immigrants would have to wait five years, as under current law, after obtaining citizenship or legal residency to access federal healthcare benefits such as Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program or receive tax credits or purchase insurance through the exchange created by the legislation.

But the would not require them to show a photo ID, such as a drivers license. Without that requirement, the bill "remains dearly lacking when it comes to identification," Grassley said.

"Frankly, I'm very perplexed as to why anyone would oppose this amendment," he said.

It looks like Joe Wilson was right all along. The dem's health care bill will cover illegal immigrants.

"Why not talk to several Canadian doctors?"

If you were about to drink from a bottle...and SEVERAL people told you it was safe...and ONE person told you it was poisonous and would kill you...would you drink?

After all the horror stories we've heard about Canadian health care...would you really ignore all of them in favor of an equal number of rosey stories??

No thanks.

...After all the horror stories we've heard about Canadian health care...

The horror stories are circulated by opponents of U.S. health security reform, and repeated endlessly by the right-wing echo chamber. The vast majority of Canadians are satisfied with the health-care system there, despite its flaws, most of which could be alleviated (and are being) by increasing the taxpayer investment in the system.

Fine. That's your opinion.

But you didn't answer my question.

If you were about to drink from a bottle...and SEVERAL people told you it was safe...and ONE person told you it was poisonous and would kill you...would you drink?

If I told you...don't believe the guy who says it's poisonous, he's just spreading rumours...would you still drink???

In Canada, if you earn 100K, you will pay about 45K in income taxes. Provincial taxes are half of Federal taxes. This is your future, under a single payer system.

If you want to see how satisfied Canadians are with their system, go to Detroit. The doctors there are clogged with people from Canada, and US citizens are in line behind them for care.

Prove it, without resorting to right-wing bloggers and radio blowhards.

This same phenomenon happens in North Dakota also. this is so common even the establishment media liars have covered it. Get your head out of the sand.

6:15: You're the one who needs to get his head out of the sand (or else stop parrotting right-wing propaganda). Check the public polling results about Canadians' satisfaction with their health care system. You do know how to do a Google search, don't you?
