Whoopi: Polanski Did Not Commit “Rape-Rape” PATTERICO
Among the cretins in Hollywood to rise to the child-rapist Polanski’s defense, none is no cretinous as Whoopi Goldberg, who says that the anal rape the child experienced wasn’t “rape-rape”:
Not rape-rape? Polanski was indeed charged with “rape-rape” — although the indictment itself called it merely “rape” (and sodomy and numerous other crimes) —and the grand jury testimony certainly supports calling it “rape-rape.” Here are excerpts from the girl’s grand jury testimony:
A. I was going, “No, I think I better go home,” because I was afraid. So I just went and I sat down on the couch.
Q. What were you afraid of?
A. Him.
Q. What happened then?
A. He reached over and he kissed me. And I was telling him, “No,” you know, “keep away.”
But I was kind of afraid of him because there was no one else there.
Q. What did he do when he placed his mouth on your vagina?
A. He was just like licking and I don’t know. I was ready to cry. I was kind of — I was going, “No. Come on. Stop it.” But I was afraid.
Q. What happened after that?
A. He started to have intercourse with me.
Q. What do you mean by intercourse?
A. He placed his penis in my vagina.
Q. What did you say, if anything, before he did that?
A. I was mostly just on and off saying, “No, stop.”
But I wasn’t fighting really because I, you know, there was no one else there and I had no place to go.
I’ll leave off there before we get to the part where he rapes her anally and ejaculates in her anus.
I’m surprised Polanski is not the 2012 U.S. Presidential candidate. He’s got the slime of Clinton, the ambiguous citizenship of Obama, the felonious nature of Barney Frank, and the accountability of Charles Rangel.
(Hillary's)Campaign Fund-Raiser Hsu Sentenced to 24 Years in Prison(WSJ)
NEW YORK -- A federal judge on Tuesday sentenced former Democratic fund-raiser Norman Hsu to more than 24 years in prison for illegally funneling tens of thousands of dollars to U.S. political candidates and for his role in a Ponzi scheme.
Appellate court dismisses Dan Rather's lawsuit against CBS (spent $5 million of his own money) Los Angeles Times
More than two years after Dan Rather filed a $70-million lawsuit against CBS for breach of contract and fraud, a New York Supreme Court appellate division has tossed out his claim.
snip
CBS was jubilant about the ruling. “We’re studying the decision right now, but it appears to be a total victory – and vindication for CBS’ position,” said CBS News spokesman Jeff Ballabon.
Neither Rather nor his attorneys immediately returned a call for comment. In its ruling, issued more than five months after the parties argued the case before the appellate division, the court reversed Judge Ira Gammerman’s decisions on the case.
Speak No Bias: The Times Only Concedes ‘Insufficient Tuned-in-ness’ (Pajamas Media)
Poor Clark Hoyt. He has the toughest job in journalism. As public editor of the New York Times, it is his job to explain away the Gray Lady’s bias.
Whenever the Times doesn’t report a bad-news-for-the-Left story or mangles a hit piece on a conservative he’s there to tut-tut, but never under any circumstances will he concede the error is due to political bias.
He was tapped this past weekend to explain away the non-coverage of ACORN by the Times. He concedes the Times ignored the story....
Anne Applebaum: I Had Absolutely No Way to Know That My Husband Was Helping Polanski — That Is, Other Than by Reading a Story Which I Myself Linked PATTERICO
As I mentioned earlier this evening, Anne Applebaum today defended her decision not to disclose her Polish politician husband’s official efforts on behalf of Roman Polanski, in a blog post she wrote on behalf of Roman Polanski:
Also, when I wrote the blog I had no idea that my husband, who is in Africa, would, or could do anything about it, as Polanski is not a Polish citizen.
Odd. The very first sentence of her post reads as follows:
Of all nations, why was it Switzerland — the country that traditionally guarded the secret bank accounts of international criminals and corrupt dictators — that finally decided to arrest Roman Polanski?
Click on the link in that last sentence, and you’ll see a Washington Post story that contains the following passage:
Polanski also received support from Poland, where he moved as a toddler and avoided capture by the Nazis, who put his mother to death in a concentration camp.
“I am considering approaching the American authorities over the possibility of the U.S. president proclaiming an act of clemency, which would settle the matter once and for all,” said Polish foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski, according to the PAP news agency.
Radoslaw Sikorski is Applebaum’s husband.
Yes, Anne Applebaum had absolutely no way to know that her husband would do anything about Polanski — unless, of course, she read all the way to the fifth paragraph of the story she herself linked on the issue.
Documents tie ACORN to helping Oklahoma Dems, Republicans say (The Daily Oklahoman)
A Republican state legislator released documents Tuesday which he says show the community-organizing group ACORN focused on helping Democrats in four legislative races in the November 2008 election and had developed a game plan to "take power" in Oklahoma within five years.
With no fanfare and no roll call vote, not even a speech -- the Senate on Tuesday unanimously approved an amendment by Sen. Mike Johanns, R-NE, that bars any funds from the Defense spending bill from going to ACORN.
ACORN's Man in the White House (Besides Obama) American Spectator
Newly discovered evidence shows the radical advocacy group ACORN has a man in the Obama White House.
This power behind the throne is longtime ACORN operative Patrick Gaspard. He holds the title of White House political affairs director, the same title Karl Rove held in President Bush's White House.
Evidence shows that years before he joined the Obama administration, Gaspard was ACORN boss Bertha Lewis's political director in New York.
Lewis, the current "chief organizer" or CEO of ACORN, was head of New York ACORN from at least 1994 through 2008, when she took over as national leader of ACORN.
-SNIP-
Obama's statement that he's barely aware of ACORN's problems is nothing short of ridiculous, especially so because Patrick Gaspard was a political director for ACORN New York.
Last year he worked as national political director for the Obama campaign followed by a stint as associate personnel director for the Obama-Biden transition team.
-SNIP-
We also now know the Obama administration was lying about ACORN's high level involvement in the 2010 Census. We have to wonder: when it comes to ACORN, what else is the Obama administration lying about?
Massive Vote Fraud in New York Linked to ACORN (Big Government)
The Working Families Party and local Democratic Party Officials are at the center of a massive voter fraud scandal in Troy, NY.
According to the Times Union: Dozens of forged and fraudulent absentee ballots from people registered to vote on the Working Families Party line were filed in the Sept. 15 primary elections in Troy.
Documents at the county Board of Elections show the fraudulent ballots were handled by or prepared on behalf of various elected officials and leaders and operatives for the Democratic and Working Families parties.
There may be as many as 50 absentee ballots that were forged, according to people close to the case. Countywide, there were 126 absentee ballots applied for on the Working Families Party line.
What isn’t mentioned is that WFP is nothing more than a front group for ACORN. Or as Roger Stone put it:
The Working Families Party is not about working people or families and it isn’t really a party. The WFP is a wholly owned subsidiary of ACORN.
Bertha Lewis co-chair of the Working Families Party is the Executive Director of New York ACORN. New York ACORN leader, Steven Kest was the moving force in forming the party and WFP headquarters are located at the same address as ACORN’s national and New York office at 88 Third Avenue in Brooklyn, New York.
WFP is essentially a money funnel which pays for an aggressive door to door canvas. Largely funded by unions, the WFP is
ACORN’s “political arm” in New York State. Candidates supported by the Working Families Party and issues supported by ACORN are both advocated on the door steps of target voter homes as they share one major voter canvas.
Convicted felons...working..in...nursing homes (ACORN health care for seniors?) Sun Sentinel Newspaper
Florida seniors and disabled adults too frail to live on their own have been beaten, neglected and robbed by caregivers with criminal records.
A cancer patient at a Pompano Beach assisted living facility watched helplessly from bed as a nurse's aide with a record for theft rifled through her handbag and stole $165.
"What are you doing with my bag?" a police report quoted her as saying. "You have no right. Put it down."
A video camera caught an aide at a North Miami Beach group home for the disabled shoving a cerebral palsy patient face-first to the floor, busting her lip. The aide had previously pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and never should have been working there.
If you think it is bad now - wait tile ACORN & Obama run your healthcare.
Seniors and baby boomers you have been warned. Just wait til you are old and on the floor getting kicked like the person in this story.
US Census Connection with SEIU Still Intact After ACORN Termination (BigGovernment.com)
The U.S. Census Bureau delegated work to outside groups for the federal 2010 census. Following the release of undercover videos showing ACORN workers helping a fake pimp and prostitute illegally secure housing, the Census Bureau terminated its partnership with ACORN.
The House and Senate voted to block federal funding for ACORN and ACORN-related affiliates, including SEIU. While the Census Bureau terminated its partnership with ACORN, it left its close connection with SEIU intact.
Given SEIU’s co-location with ACORN in Chicago and SEIU’s intimate financial relationship with ACORN, we should take action to protect the public from the corruption of the 2010 census.
To defend the integrity of the process, the Census Bureau should end its close relationship with ACORN’s close sister organization, the SEIU.
Official filings show that SEIU, referenced in the U.S. Attorney’s indictment of Governor Rod Blagojevich, contributed more than $4 million to ACORN and its affiliates since 2006.
According to recent Department of Labor filings, the SEIU employs ACORN Founder and ACORN International Chief Organizer Wade Rathke. Mr. Rathke was recently exposed for running a cover-up of an embezzlement scheme run by his brother.
Sadly For Countdown With Keith Olbermann Ratings, Presidential Elections Don’t Happen Every Year (TV By the Numbers)
In the ideal cable news ratings world there would be the run up to a Presidential election *every* year.
Sadly for MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann, it’s just one in four.
Comparing Q3 2009 with Q3 2008, the show has lost 21% of its cable news target adults 25-54 demo, and 12% of its average viewership. 2012will be a long time coming.
Washington Post Admits to Bogus Quote (human events)
Veteran Washington Post reporter Daryl Fears, part of a two-person writer team, unmistakably wrote that filmmaker John O'Keefe had “said” he “targeted” ACORN, the advocacy group, for his candid-camera expose, because it registered voters to defeat Republicans.
O'Keefe said no such thing. It was a non-quote made out of whole cloth by reporter Fears, and published as fact on Sept. 17.
Making the falsehood exponentially worse, the Post story then was retailed worldwide by the Associated Press.
Poll: Support for Obamacare Plunges to All-Time Low(Almost 2 to 1 Seniors against it now 59% vs 33%)newsmax
Only 41 percent of voters now support President Barack Obama and the Democrats' healthcare reform proposal — down from 44 percent two weeks ago and the lowest level of support yet measured by Rasmussen Reports.
The National Health Service (UK)? It's about as good as the health system in Slovenia (Daily Mail, UK)
The National Health System is on a par with Slovenia and the Czech Republic, according to an analysis by European researchers.
The NHS came 14th out of 33 European countries, making it one of the worst systems in Western Europe.
The study - the Euro Health Consumer Index - found the NHS performed particularly badly on waiting times, even though these have fallen thanks to Labour targets.
It is also one of the least efficient, delivering less service per pound put in. The annual survey is by HealthConsumer Powerhouse, which campaigns for social insurance type systems rather than nationalised models such as the NHS.
CBC member: Health insurance penalties 'indefensible' (thehill.com)
Rep. Artur Davis (D-Ala.), an often contrarian member of the Congressional Black Caucus, on Sunday called proposed penalties against small business that do not provide their workers health insurance, "indefensible."
The congressman addressed insurance mandates that would levy fines against small businesses of 25 or more employees that do not provide health insurance or would require a business to offer health coverage based on the size of its payroll.
"Frankly, the House leadership seems wedded to keeping that in," Davis told the Montgomery (Ala.) Advertiser. "And the more you look at it, the more indefensible that is."
Daily Presidential Tracking Poll (Dear Leader at -11)
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 28% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President.
Thirty-nine percent (39%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -11
Here's some great news for a Wednesday (or any day) - Keith Olbermann's ratings are awful and getting worse. The lib nutjob is being abandoned by his viewers in droves. According to tvbythenumber.com, he's lost 21 percent of his adults age 25-54 and 12 percent of his total audience over the past year.
Newsmax removes, runs away from coup-advocating column
Yesterday, we highlighted a Newsmax column by John L. Perry essentially advocating a military coup to resolve the "Obama problem" (while, of course, claiming he was advocating no such thing). It's just the latest example of extreme right-wing rhetoric directed at President Obama.
Now, it appears that Newsmax has removed the column from its website; the link to it defaults to Perry's main column page. Fortunately, we made a copy.
As of this writing, Newsmax has posted no explanation or apology on its website -- arguably par for the course for Newsmax when it gets caught screwing up. But Media Matters has received the following statement from a Newsmax spokesperson:
In a blog posting to Newsmax John Perry wrote about a coup scenario involving the U.S. military. He clearly stated that he was not advocating such a scenario but simply describing one.
After several reader complaints, Newsmax wanted to insure that this article was not misinterpreted. It was removed after a short period after being posted.
Newsmax strongly believes in the principles of Constitutional government and would never advocate or insinuate any suggestion of an activity that would undermine our democracy or democratic institutions.
Mr. Perry served as a political appointee in the Carter administration in HUD and FEMA. He has no official relationship with Newsmax other than as an unpaid blogger.
Interesting that Newsmax makes a point of highlighting that Perry worked in the Carter administration, as if it somehow proves he's not really a right-wing nut. And its dismissal of Perry as nothing more than an "unpaid blogger" is a tad disingenous since Perry has been writing for Newsmax since 1999 and Perry's Newsmax bio touts how he "contributes a regular column to NewsMax.com."

President Obama Is Caught Lying in Another Health Care Horror Story (Fox)
President Obama used not one, but two faulty anecdotes during his health care speech to Congress earlier this month.
Obama told a story about a Texas woman who lost her insurance just before breast cancer surgery, "because she forgot to declare a case of acne."
But the truth is Robin Beaton lost her coverage because she failed to report a heart condition and did not list her weight accurately.
Republican Congressman Joe Barton fought the insurance company until it restored coverage, allowing Beaton to get the surgery she needed.
The Associated Press writes: "Beaton's case is just one cited by Obama that mixes fact with fiction."
We reported here on The Grapevine before, the president also told a story about an Illinois man who died because his coverage was also canceled.
But in congressional testimony, the man's sister said his insurance was reinstated and that treatment actually extended his life for four years.
