As to ideological breakdown, Leonard Pitts is a liberal. Pia Lopez has said of her own leanings,"People would describe me as a liberal. I guess I’m an FDR, Abraham Lincoln liberal.” David Broder's political leanings are middle-of-the-road. He was rated "Least Ideological" among some 123 columnists. Although some Democrat partisans accuse him of being a Bush supporter, he was called "relentlessly centrist" by left-leaning commentator Hendrick Hertsberg. Of the four writers, only George Will is a conservative.
So here's your "balance" at the Bee: 50% left-of-center, 25% center, 25% right-of-center.
