McClatchy losing hearts and minds in Kansas City?

People in Kansas City aren't happy about the announcement that ad work from the Kansas City Star will be outsourced to India, according to this account.

In a global economy, companies have to outsource to stay competitive. I wish reality was different, but you can't change reality.

But why were McClatchy's political writers and editorial writers silent when John Kerry demagogued the outsourcing issue in 2004? That would have been a good time to help explain the issue to readers. (Do you think maybe they were silent because the issue was being used against the bad-guy Republicans?)
