Sacramento Bee's circulation is hemorrhaging

Here are some numbers that should make McClatchy executives stop dead in their tracks:

Sacramento Bee circulation as of 3/31/07: 279,032
Sacramento Bee circulation as of 3/31/08: 268,755

That's a loss of 10,277 in one year -- almost 1,000 a month.
And when the Bee raises its price in January, look for more subscribers to jump ship.

It is really revealing when you factor in the population increase in their circulation area.

The only good thing that is going to come out of the Obamamania is that it is probably the end of advocacy journalism.

That's the best news I've heard all day!

There are probably almost 4 million people in the Sac Bee's coverage area and they only have 269,000 subscribers?

Sounds like people are catching on...
