El Nuevo Herald in fact has been successful as a bridge to help waves of Spanish-speaking immigrants adapt to their new country, while leaving their mark on it. The Rivero columns reflect how we still haven't all arrived at common ground.....and
The 73-year old Cuban refugee, who said he came to this country 20 years ago, violates a national consensus about what being an American is, but he doesn't see it. He writes that Obama is a ''radical leftist activist,'' adding: "All of the U.S. radical left is housed in the Democratic Party.''....and
Rivero, who is an intellectually interesting libertarian writer, loves America, or his idea of it. Still, whatever his personal motives, to classify American liberals as ''socialists'' and ''radical leftists'' is inflammatory and patently wrong. As a result, he is not building his new country that we now share together; he is tearing it down.
I don't recall this kind of scrutiny from the Miami Herald over "inflammatory" columns, or "violating a national consensus" when Bush-bashing columns ran on a daily basis for the past 8 years. I guess that's because they were "ideologically accurate."

I'm glad Obama won, but the phrase "violating a national consensus" is just plain stupid.
If you haven't seen this one yet, it illustrates the worth of today's media. Hint: It's very low.

5:17 You could do a similar piece on how many Fox News watching fundamentalists think Obama is a muslim and a terrorist, that Sadaam partnered with Al Quaeda and that we did find WMD in Iraq. There's plenty of ignorance to go around.
Can't we just not do the Obama thing? Nobody is going to change their opinions. I' m more interested our jobs.
7:13 Agree, totally.
Because so many "journalists" did the "Obama thing" many people got fed up and canceled their subscriptions and/or pulled their advertising dollars. This is a large part of why the liberal media is failing.
You're just interested in saving your job, yet you don't comprehend the role that the lousy job of reporting, and irresponsible if not ethical lapses in coverage has had a tremendous effect in why you're losing those jobs.
This is endemic among leftist enterprises that do not consider the fact that stacking their ranks with nothing but fellow travelers creates an environment where the product sold is inherently offensive to at least half of your customer base.
You can get away with that in good times, but in bad times you're a victim of your own poor judgment. You should lose your jobs, and your enterprises should go by the way side. Maybe then you will learn the lessons of the past.
here is a novel idea. how about loosing this stupid blog.
blah blah blah
Yeah, if I were an unethical leftist propagandist for a corrupt family full of losers driving my publicly traded company into the dirt, I'd want anyone watching (and reporting) my every idiotic move gone too. I just wouldn't be stupid enough to think asking would have an effect.
Good Job, great blog.
The media may have elected Obama, but too many people see journalists as completely corrupt for their dishonest efforts in the presidential process. The sinking newspapers better hope Obama pays them for their support with some sort of bailout money
