Will Smith, right, stops by the Miami Herald board room on Tuesday. To the left of Smith is a grinning Anders Gyllenhaal , executive editor. Call me crazy -- but with circulation in free fall, some will wonder why Herald execs are spending time hanging out with movie stars and holding strange brainstorming sessions at posh hotels.

Miami Herald executive editor: "I don't think there will be any more layoffs"

How much did that cost and how many jobs have to be lost to pay for it? Sorry mess!
This is truly disgusting. The Herald is in truly dire straits, and MNI executives have shown no indication they either understand these problems, or have a business plan that can counter the decline. I don't mind people taking a break from the misery, but wasting time when MNI is crumbling isn't helpful.
THEY DON'T CARE WHAT WE THINK! How many ways do they need to tell us.
Corporate ego stroking is how McClatchy went from a small, but stable, regional newspaper to a hubris driven wannaBee big time corporate media player.
In the end, the cow-town boys were just dreaming out of their league. But as least they can pretend to rub elbows with the elite.
New CEO??? Gotta be better than what we have now!
