Here's your amazing McClatchy statistic of the day

A reader who has gone through McClatchy's SEC statements passes on this amazing info:

At the end of 2007, McClatchy had 15,748 employees
At the end of 2008, McClatchy had 12,100 employees

The difference: 3,648 employees dumped by McClatchy since the end of 2007

Gee that's a 25% purging of staff.

Can we check back next year when the percentage could be somewhat higher, like 100%

Wait a minute. If lokeman is in there somewhere, that's now 12,100.10 employees?

After all didn't lokeman have a .10
blood alcohol level? (drum roll ba-ba-ba BOOM)

If you can, go back a few years.

Is that a pure number that does not count any sold newspaper assets in 2007? I know the Star Tribune sale was completed in 2007 were those bodies counted at all towards that years number?
