New ads

A couple of days ago I started running ads that show up in the middle of the blog instead of the side column only. It's a trial run. If these ads give me a little more money each day, without being too annoying to readers, I'll keep running em.

But it would be absolutely horrible to put ads on the front page of a newspaper.

I think the ads for chicken really improve the overall effect.

Keep up the good work and I hope you make a mint with your blog!

Ten days ago, you blasted The Star and other newspapers for putting ads on the front page but it's ok for you. Hypocrite.

I never even knew you had ads because I was using Firefox with Ad Block Plus.

I switched over to Chrome and noticed them...They are pretty tacky to say the least.

I doubt you will see much more of an increase as I never click on ads and sooner or later the few who do will be flagged as click fraud trying to help you out.

I am also surprised that you didn't put them in with the comments as that is where the bulk of your traffic is.

Liberal troll here,

The ads are fine where they are, in the middle of the blog. But MW, what worries me (and apparently Brooks Brothers, who don't seem to have returned to your blog) are things being said in comments like "Obamababoon" and the guy who went off about killing people, in the same way as the kids who shot up Columbine.

We can't curtail free speech; but speech like this (both examples) has a clear history of coming before violent crimes. what to do? your guess is as good as mine...

You sure are. You make us all look like fools.

WHO is the hypocrite?
A newspaper you PAY for, this is A FREE SERVICE that I for one is GLAD to have!

6:40 - I didn't criticize the KC Star for putting an ad on the front page. I said I had no objection to it. I even said they should have thought of it a long time ago.

The ads won't be any more obnoxious than the content.

Lose the ads, keep the "Obamababoon" comments.

They drive the Lefty trolls here even more nutty.

Methinks the Obamababoon comments are the lefty trolls.

Speaking of hypocrisy, The Star's all left, all the time editorial board has come out with a pre-emptive strike against any attempts to keep Sonia Sotomayor off the Supreme Court.

The same editorial board that did not want a 73 year old grandma who believes in the rule of law on the KC Park Board is now pimping for a racist bimbo who not only utters racist comments, but belongs to an avowedly racist organization.

The ads are fine with me. Comparing these ads to a newspapers front page ads is typical moonbat ravings. I think the same person is writing all the comments like that. Ignore the poor beast. As far as calling Obama whatever, he is half white/half black, so who knows what names are fair game? For years President Bush was called every derogatory name one could think of, and once a liberal
on-air commentator called him a monkey, and didn’t even lose her job. Go over to the Daily Kos and complain about name-calling. You’ll see how crass the liberals are. Geeez, talk about wearing blinders.

Some troll keeps harping about the Brooks Brothers ad, so I think they probably wrote something to discourage the ad. I think there is a law about ruining someone’s business with that sort of hearsay. There is no way to prove it wasn’t a plant to accomplish that very goal. Sometimes fools cross the line, and they can be held into account for intentional harm. I’ll try to find the case I saw, and report back, but it seemed very close to what I am hearing here.

byran says, “sooner or later the few who do [click the ads] will be flagged as click fraud trying to help you out.”
-------
There are x amount of people reading this blog. If they read the ads once a day to keep the blog going, that is an easy way to help out at no expense to the reader. Most blogs have a request to check out the sponsors. Are you completely void of rational thought? Could you put your name at the top of your posts so I can skip past your nonsense?

Google: Obamababoon = 519 entries
And Google asks, “Did you mean Obama Baboon?”
That list 104,000 entries.

Google President Bush, Monkey = 1,690,000
Bush Chimpanzee = 820,000

Do you really think sponsors are not aware of this crazy stuff?
Honestly, how outraged were you when President Bush was called names? How about when a foreign nutcase threw shoes at him? Rational people see through this hypocrisy. Go count Zero’s and Bidens gaffes to date, that will keep you busy for quite awhile.

McClanahan is all left, all the time? Could have fooled me.

@12:16

You do not know how Google Adsense works. MW only makes money when people click on ads. He can show 5 million of them, and if no one clicks on them, then he makes $0.

Telling your "constituents" to click on ads is also considered click fraud.

So everyone please click on the new ads and see how quick he gets banned from using Google's ad system.

I have a few blogs myself and everything to run these blogs is free, granted I dont have the traffic that MW does.

If you insist on having the ads, please put them on the side of the page and not in the middle of the content!

I like the ads in the middle of the page. That Bill Nelson ad is a good one. It takes you to Freedom Works. I read that whole site. There are other readers here that will find that site interesting as well.

“You do not know how Google Adsense works”

I would say YOU don’t. The click fraud in question mostly deals with the use of software that clicks on ads for fraudulent motives. If you are going to write foolish things, go on a childish site. And, asking your readers to check out the sponsors is a far cry from ‘Telling’ them to do so. How much do you get paid for this garbage writing?

Anonymous said...

I also think the ads are fine where they are now. If it helps you meet expenses, than I am all for them. Isn’t it a hoot that the pantywaists that think charging for content is a must, can’t see their choice to click an ad or not, gives them free reading? No wonder the newspapers are dying.

Anonymous said...

Click fraud could be explored if the KC Scar makes their employees check in on the page where they are counting circulation numbers to send to ad customers without divulging that information to the businesses. I also wonder if they disclosed to readers that signed up to comment, that they were going to sell their e-mail addresses? If true, that sort of thing sounds dicey to me.

REALLY?

I'll bet YOU, I was at MCCLATCHY longer than you and a higher position!

Liberal troll again,

Heya 12:07. Find the law & I'll let 'em know where to come get me, ha ha.

Brooks Bros. probably just asked to not have their ad associated with a blog that includes racist comments. If somebody pointed this out to them, well...

Ok, I'll start letting other companies know about what goes on in the comments section here; we'll see if they start pulling their ads too.

I don't like the positioning of the ads. Please put them somewhere else on the page.

Anonymous said...

I like the ads in the middle of the page. Leave them where they are.

Anonymous said...

If you make more money with the ads in the middle of the page, what is the question? Why would anyone care what the moonbats want? Liberals only think of their sorry selves. Something that would help a blogger meet expenses would mean nothing to them. They just come here to keyboard their hatred. Keep the ads, dump the loons.

I think the one for the gay dating site is targeted perfectly!

I don't understand. What are the costs associated with running rhis blog? Doesn't cost me anything for my blog.
