In which a liberal blogger embarasses himself and shrinks his readership

Some bloggers do the craziest things.

Saturday a blogger attacked me over this post.

The attack amazed me because most bloggers who want to increase their audience never attack another blogger who links to them. I've linked to this guy several times when he posted something interesting. And even though he is a left-winger politically I didn't feel the need to demean him or criticise his views. And like I say, I linked to him probably 5 times this year.
.
I'll give you some of the good parts of his cheap slam. Right off, the blogger claims I smeared Obama and lied about him.
And during the campaign he did nothing but post lies, half-truths and outright smears about Obama. His blog seethes with hate And now that Obama's been elected he's turned his attention to wondering why the media are publishing special editions, posters and mementos commemorating Obama's election.

One of his most persistent questions is "Maybe I just don't remember -- did newspapers sell stuff like this after Bush won in 2000 and 2004?"

Today he posted an item about McClatchy Newspapers publishing a book marking Obama's ascendency to the highest office in the land in which he again asks the question: "Funny, I don't remember McClatchy selling Bush books and posters and mugs in 2000 and 2004."

He thinks that is evidence that I am stupid.
Seems this guy [ed: me] is more than a little dense. He just can't seem to come to grips with the fact that Obama's election was a historic milestone and that the only thing historic about Bush's election was the fact that he stole it.

But maybe he'll be able to figure it all out in the next 4 years! And then again, maybe not.

There you have it. He managed to hit the basic left-wing attacks: Bush stole the election, McCain supporters are stupid. And for good measure, he lobs some personal insults.
.
You want to know who the blogger is? Sorry, but I'm not going to link to him. That would quadruple the number of hits he gets at his little blog each day. He needs to build his readership the old-fashioned way -- you build readership by earning trust and working hard and cultivating other bloggers who link to you. Not by picking a cheap fight and hoping for a link.
.
And his self-destructive acts are hurting his blog, because it looks like he's shrinking -- I noticed the entire month of December he's had 2, maybe 3 comments. Not 2 comments per post -- 2 comments the entire month. (He's left more comments than that himself on my blog over the past few weeks.) By no means am I a giant among bloggers -- but this if this guy's Technorati rating was air pressure his blog would be a flat tire.
.
Dense is as dense does.

And that liberal source would be,'Random Pimples and Booze Talk' in Babalu Land? Too much sun is obviously not good for the brain cells. The party-hardy girl needs a tinfoil sunhat.

Archer05 I bet Pimples already has a tinfoil sunhat.

I wonder McClatchy Watch how you feel about the post Anon 4:18 made yesterday?

haha! Astute Shopper!

Anonymous 8:26 -- it was over my head.

You're not going to link to me? My heart is broken. The amount of clicks I've rec'd from your blog is negligible and I get plenty without your links. I'd rather not be associated here on your little Mickey Mouse hate fest. Thanks anyway.

As for me being a left winger; nothing could be further from the truth. You know nothing about me. My views run the gamut of the political spectrum. Some are lberal. Most in the center and a very few are conservative.

Have a nice day!

4:15 I agree it is becoming a hate fest. It used to be some news about McClatchy, now not much. Instead of expressing different views it's just nasty and hate whatever the subject.

5:10 Point proved.
5:46 As far as being a liberal. People like you just make more of us. That's why WE won the election. So, rant all you want. WE WON!!!. YOU LOST!!!.

The loonies have really taken over here. I have no problem with conservatives, but some of the language that's getting thrown around on here is just terrible. All this traitor, leftist stuff, and the name-calling.

And as for the white-gloved Marines crack yesterday @4:18? I think assasination references are beyond the pale. If McClatchy Watch doesn't police this, he's got no cred on anything.

I'm gone.

8:13 Your exactly correct.
That 4:18 stuff yesterday is very dangerous.

Did I miss an assassination crack?

Yesterdays 4:18 is on thin ice with the assasination reference. Some people don't take kindly to talk like that.

I think the "some people" might just be The Secret Service.

One or two commenters (could be same one pretending to be two) are claiming there were assassination references posted in comments on this blog. As best as I can tell, they taking offense at a phrase in comments, "white gloved Marines."

When I saw that phrase I had no idea what the commenter was talking about. (OK, I've never been invited to join MENSA and there are alot smarter bloggers out there, so maybe that was an obvious assassination reference. But I doubt it. And if it is an assassination reference, I wouldn't be surprised if it was made by a lefty who was scheming to turn it into a big deal.)

The people complaining about the white gloved Marines remark need to get a grip: you are reading something into the comment that isn't there.

And by the way, let me ask, where have you been over the past 8 years? Your silence over 8 years of "assassinate Bush" signs and jokes and plays and remarks says it all.

Where was your outrage over Kill Bush t-shirts? The liberal protesters carrying sick signs depicting President Bush with his head cut off? The "artist" who painted assassinate Bush stamps? Did you speak out? I don't remember any of the moral midgets from the left objecting.

That being said, I will not tolerate assassination talk on my blog. And if the secret service wants my cooperation over assassination threats, you bet I'll cooperate. The URL will be submitted happily.

Leftist Moron:

Final Chapter - The End

All Presidents get State Funerals you idiot. That is when the story is over, not a book about the lying bastard before he is even elected.

Anonymous 12:25 you cleared it up, thanks.

...and for the record, it is the Army Old Guard, not the Marines that provide service to State Funerals.

Money, not politics, is behind all the Obama memorabilia hawking. Newspapers were astonished to see how much demand there was for the Obama wins editions, and they wanted to cash in. To the best of my recollection, there was no such demand for the 2004 editions proclaiming Bush's re-election victory.
